Limbo Uprising – Chapter 1

Chapter 1 — Home Coming

Mar 16, 1996 – Jacksonville, FL – The X-Ternals’ Compound – The Infirmary

“Oh God, I didn’t think I could do it,” JT spoke, floating down to the floor as his costume changed to his regular clothes and his scepter disappeared as Tara rushed over to where he stood.

“Are you okay JT?”  Tara asked, checking his body over.  “That took a lot of power and you look like…”

“I look like hell warmed over,” JT stated with a frown on his face.  “Is that what you were going to say Tara?”

“No, I was going to say that you look like you need some sleep,” Tara replied with a frown.

“Yeah, I’m tired, but I don’t know where I’m going to get sleep.  How am I supposed to sleep right now?”  JT asked, looking around.  “It’s going to take some time to come to terms with all that’s happened here.”

“Like your uncle said, none of this was your fault JT.  You shouldn’t be dwelling on this,” A’Mora stated with a frown.

“But you know he’s going to dwell on it anyway,” Hank stated, looking over at JT.

“I have no choice but to dwell on it,” JT stated, looking down.  “This mess is my fault and there’s nothing I can do to change any of it now.  All that’s happened is stuck in the timeline and there’s nothing anyone can do to change it, to the way it should be.”

“Change it to the way it should be… What are you talking about J?”  Tara asked, looking at JT strangely.

“I’m talking about Donna being here.  She’s supposed to be here, with the rest of us, not dead.  She was supposed to be here to live her life, to have a family, to have a successful career.  She was supposed to…”

“From what has been said already, all we can really do is move on with our lives JT.  There’s nothing we can really do about Donna’s actions,” Tara stated as she looked down.

“Those were not Donna’s actions, it was the demonphage’s actions!”  JT snapped as the area around them shook.  “If it hadn’t removed the power blockers from her mind, that restricted her powers, she would still be here now!”

“Calm down J,” Drew stated as he walked up to JT and rubbed his back.

“I’m not going to calm down!”  JT snapped, jerking away from Drew’s touch.  “One of my friends, your friend too, killed themselves because of something I could’ve stopped!”

“How could you have stopped the demonphage JT?”  Drew asked, looking at JT strangely.  “You’re powerful, but you’re not that powerful JT.  You’re not God.”

“I never said I was God,” JT stated, turning away from Drew.

“No, you didn’t say it, but sometimes you act as if you are,” Drew stated as he folded his arms across his chest.  “You can’t control everything that goes on in the world JT.”

“I do no such thing,” JT stated as he turned back towards Drew, glaring at him.

“Come off it JT, you’ve been acting that way since I’ve known you,” Hank stated as he stepped up behind Drew.  “You know you have power and you’ve always done everything you can to display that power to the rest of us and the people we’ve taken down.  So, don’t stand there and say you don’t act like you’re God!”

“I—I’m sorry, if that’s the impression I’ve given you guys, I’m really sorry,” JT stated as he shook his head and then sighed.  “That’s another reason why I should’ve been able to do what I had planned to do moments ago.”

“No, that’s just another sign of you trying to act like you’re God!”  Hank snapped, pointing his finger at JT.  “There are things in the world that shouldn’t be controlled.  There are things in this world that even you can’t change.  Donna’s actions, ending her life is one of those things!”

“I have the power to…” JT started as Hank rolled his eyes and then sighed.

“Yep, you have the power, but did you ever use it the way it was supposed to be used?  Even though you’re a psychic with the power to see into the future, that doesn’t mean you can see the outcome of everything that’s going to happen.  You can’t control the outcome of every living being on the planet JT.  We can make our own damn decisions!”  Hank snapped, throwing his hands up.  “Everything isn’t about you always coming to the damn rescue!”

“You have a point,” JT stated as he waved his hand in the air, creating a portal as he shook his head and then flew into it as Tara shook her head and then flew in behind him as it closed.

“Hank, I think you said too much,” A’Mora stated as she looked down.

“He needed to hear it though,” Hank replied, looking down as he shook his head.  “Besides, you all were thinking the same thing I was, go on and admit it.”

“He might have needed to hear that, but he didn’t need to hear it the way it was delivered,” Drew stated, looking down.  “I guess we have to wait until he calms down for him to come back.”

“I guess so,” A’Mora replied, looking around.  “Who wants to start the clean-up process?”

“You all can be my guest,” Hank replied, making a move towards the door as Drew grabbed him by the arm, stopping him.  “Damn it, I was so close.”

“If we have to clean up this place, so do you,” Drew stated as he sighed and then walked out of the room.

Between Here and There – The Limbo Dimension – Castle Limbo

“I thought after he took back his power and the world continued, things would be different, but as you can see, things are not,” Necroloque spoke as he walked past a mirror with Mother Divine’s reflection in it.  “Things in the real world will never be alright for my boy.  Do you see what your actions have done?”

“No Sidney, nothing I did was responsible for any of that,” Mother Divine spoke as Necroloque looked at the scrying glass and then snapped his fingers as the images changed.

“You have a point there.  I can’t blame everything Chaos did on your actions, but I can contribute most of what it did to your meddling in Timmy’s life,” Necroloque stated as he shook his head.  “So, what do I do with you now?  I can’t hold you in that mirror for…”

“No, you can’t hold me in this mirror forever, trapped like this brother,” Mother Divine stated as her eyes glowed an eerie purple color.  “You will pay dearly for entrapping me this way.”

“Remember sister, I reign supreme here, not you,” Necroloque spoke as his eyes crackled with energy.  “You are just a visitor to this realm, keep that in mind.”

“I may be a visitor here, but my powers will set me free and when they do,” Mother Divine spoke as the castle walls shook.  “What’s happening?”

“I don’t know, but that shouldn’t be your main concern right now,” Necroloque spoke as there was a flash of light in the area as things seemed to fade in and out around them as new walls appeared around himself and Mother Divine, blocking them from the rest of the castle.

(<PAMPH>)

“Where are we JT?”  Tara asked as she looked around the area as she covered her mouth.

“Limbo,” JT answered as he looked around and then sighed as he waved his hand as another portal appeared.  “You’re leaving here Tara.”

“Nope, I’m not leaving here JT.  You might as well hang that idea up,” Tara stated as she looked at him as if he were crazy.  “If you’re not with me when I go, I’m not going anywhere.  If I go damn it, you go!”

“I’m not going anywhere and you can’t stay here in this domain,” JT stated as he looked around again.

“What happened to this place JT?”  Tara asked as she looked around again.  “It looks like a battle took place here.”

“I—I don’t remember this happening while I was trying to leave here,” JT stated as he shook his head.  “I don’t think I did all of this.”

“I’m sure you didn’t,” JT heard as he turned around and then stopped in his tracks. “Hello Timmy.”

“Grandma!”  JT yelled, the walls of the castle shaking and vibrating as Tara looked around again and then backed away from where JT stood.  “How—how did you get here?  How did you get to Limbo?”

“This was once my domain, a lifetime ago,” the woman spoke, smiling at JT as she walked over to where he stood.  “And as you know, your bloodline can enter Limbo freely, without you being here.”

“I thought that only applied to the chosen ones, not my entire bloodline,” JT stated as the woman shook her head.

“No so,” the woman stated as she waved her hand as it glowed brightly as a portal appeared.  “Your magical bloodline is able to enter Limbo at will, not just your family bloodline.”

“I’m confused a bit,” JT spoke as the woman shook her head.

“There’s nothing to be confused about my child,” the woman spoke.  “As long as our bloodline is the highest on the Winding Way, our bloodline is the strongest and has access to this realm.”

“So, this place isn’t just mine as I’ve always thought,” JT stated as he looked at the woman strangely.

“Not so much as this place being yours, but you are the gatekeeper here,” the woman spoke as JT looked down.

“All that time, I thought this was my domain and mine only,” JT stated as he shook his head.

“It is your domain, as it is all in our bloodline,” the woman stated as she walked down the corridor as she motioned with her head for JT to follow her.

“But—but I thought this place was tied to me and was just mine,” JT stated as the woman shook her head again.

“My child, Limbo belongs to no one in particular,” the woman stated as her eyes glowed brightly as she doubled over as if she were in pain.

“Grandma!”  JT screamed as he moved past a mirror in the area, noticing his reflection and the reflection of the thing that was posing as his grandmother.  “What the hell is going on here?”

“Is there something wrong JT?”  Tara asked as she landed next to JT.

“That’s not my grandmother,” JT stated as he waved his hand, using his magical powers as magical energy chains shot through the air, grabbing the woman, holding her tight as her visage changed.  “Who in the hell are you?”

“Come now Prince, that’s no way to talk to your dear old grandmother,” the woman stated as she laughed.

“You’re not my grandmother!”  JT screamed, his eyes crackling with magical energy as Tara stepped behind him.  “Now, who in the hell are you?”

“You’re not going to get the answers you want that way Prince,” the woman stated as she struggled to get free of the magical chains that held her tightly.  “Release me and I’ll tell you what you want to know.”

“I’m not releasing you at all,” JT stated as Tara looked at him and then at the woman.

“JT, what’s going on here?”  Tara asked as she moved backwards, stepping in front of a mirror, noticing her own reflections as she jumped and then screamed.  “No!  That—that’s not what I look like, is it?  This—this must be some sort of damn trick!”

“Snap out of it Amazon!”  JT snapped as he grabbed her hand as she stopped screaming.  “That’s my scrying glass… It sometimes reflects a person’s inner demons to them.”

“So, you’re saying I think I look like a damn demon?  That’s not right JT; I don’t see myself as the thing I just saw in that damn mirror!”  Tara screamed a JT shook his head, sighing as he kept his attention on the woman he held in his magical chains.

“I didn’t say that at all Tara,” JT stated as the woman’s eyes started to glow as the chains vibrated, some of them dissipating.

“Then what in the hell are you saying damn it?”  Tara asked as she moved away from JT as she stood in front of the mirror again, seeing a different image as she jumped backwards and then looked behind her as if someone was there.  “This is some crazy shit here!”

“Tara, please calm down, I can’t concentrate on what I need to do here and worry about what’s going on with you,” JT stated as he floated off the floor as Tara’s eyes widened.

“Are—are those demon wings on your back?”  Tara asked as JT sighed.

“No, that’s just the appearance of my cloak,” JT stated as his eyes glowed an eerie red color.  “There’s some foolery afoot in my domain and I intend to find out why.”

“Come on JT, stop playing.  You—you have demon wings on your back!”  Tara screamed as she pointed at JT as he flew towards a balcony above her.

“No, I told you it’s just my cloak taking on the form of wings.  It’s just a means of easy transportation for when I’m here,” JT stated as he landed down on the floor as the so-called wings disappeared from his back.

Somewhere Else in Castle Limbo

“What’s happening around here?”  Mother Divine asked as she slammed her hands on the glass of the mirror, having no effect of releasing her from the mirror.

“You’re not going to get out of there, regardless of how much you try.  You’ll stay in that mirror until I release you from it,” Necroloque stated as his eyes glowed.

“What’s happening out there?  What’s going on?”  Mother Divine asked.

“I don’t know what’s happening right now, I can’t seem to put my finger on it,” Necroloque replied, looking at Mother Divine as he waved his hand, trying to create a portal, but nothing happened.

“What’s wrong my brother, something wrong with your powers?”  Mother Divine asked with a sly smile.

“Is this your doing woman?  What are you up to?”  Necroloque asked, looking at the mirror that contained Mother Divine.  “Are you behind what’s happening right now?”

“You’ll never know,” Mother Divine replied as her image flickered on the mirror’s surface.

“What have you done?”  Necroloque asked as he shook his head.

“What should’ve been done a hundred years ago,” Mother Divine replied as she disappeared from the mirror’s reflection and then appeared in front of Necroloque.

“You’re free,” Necroloque stated, stepping back from Mother Divine.

“Yes my brother, I said I would be at some point,” Mother Divine stated as she stepped forward and then turned around quickly as she lashed out with her powers. “Divine, Sash of Suffering!”

(<PAMPH>)

“I don’t think so!”  Tara screamed, appearing in front of Necroloque as she deflected the magical energy beam that Mother Divine directed at him.  “Sir, are you alright?”

“Wonder Woman, how did you get here?”  Necroloque asked, looking at Tara strangely.  “What’s going on around here?”

“Let’s just say that JT has his hands full, but he sent me to help you,” Tara replied, grabbing Necroloque’s hand and flying through the air with him. “Is that really your sister?”

“I—I don’t know,” Necroloque replied.

“Something tried to trick JT into thinking it was his grandmother, but he somehow saw through the disguise,” Tara stated as she landed on a cliff, releasing Necroloque’s hand.  “He told me to give you his cloak.”

“Hmmm, why would he give me this?”  Necroloque asked, looking at Tara strangely.  “This only works for him, it was enchanted by the elders to allow him to…”

“We don’t have time for all of that sir,” Tara stated with a frown.  “He said for me to give it to you and that you shouldn’t trust your eyes.”

“With that being said Wonder Woman, can you be trusted?”  Necroloque asked, stepping back from Tara as he snapped his fingers as her costume disappeared, revealing her true visage.  “So, you really are the Wonder Woman.”

“I don’t know what’s going on in this place, but I’ll be glad when one of you figures it out,” Tara stated as she looked around.

“I’ll tell you what’s going on,” someone spoke as there was a flash of light as the castle walls started shaking.

“Who’s there?”  Necroloque asked, looking around, not seeing anyone.

“The once and former king of this realm, you are king no more,” the voice spoke as there was another flash of light and Tara and Necroloque gasped.

If I Ain’t Got You – Chapter 17

Chapter 17 — Ringing in the New Year

Jan 1, 2003 – Orlando, FL – Florida Hospital – The Emergency Room’s Rape Trauma Unit – Kasai’s Room

“Get away from me!  Don’t come near me!”  Kasai screamed as Mark rushed into the room.

“I’m here buddy, I’m here.  Shhh it’s going to be okay,” Mark spoke, doing his best to comfort Kasai as he wrapped his arms around him, hugging him to his chest.

“Daddy Mark, he’s here, he’s here!”  Kasai screamed out.

“I know, I know.  Just calm down, it’s going to be okay baby boy, it’s going to be all right,” Mark spoke, rocking Kasai back and forth.

“Is JT coming down Mark?”  Dr. Tripp asked, looking around quickly.

“Yeah, he’s on his way down.  I think he was getting into his chair when I left to come down here,” Mark replied.

“Just so you know, when he gets down here, do what you can to keep him calm.  This is all going to explode beyond this here,” Dr. Tripp stated with a frown.

“What do you mean Andy?”  Mark asked, looking over at Dr. Tripp strangely.

“Let’s just say that one of the guys responsible for hurting Kai, he has some very powerful parents,” Dr. Tripp stated as he looked down.

“I don’t care if his parents have power or not!  This guy hurt my boy and he needs to be punished for it,” Mark said, shaking his head as Dr. Tripp sighed.

“I know that Mark, but I’m just saying that this could possibly get pushed under a rug somewhat and never be heard about again,” Dr. Tripp stated with a frown.

“This will be heard about until the creeps responsible are punished for what they did to him Andy,” Mark said as JT’s voice could be heard outside the room.

“Hey Jared,” JT said as he rolled into the room.  “Officer, where is the person that hurt my child?”

“Ah JT,” Dr. Tripp said, motioning with his head as JT looked at him strangely.

“Andy, where I the guy?”  JT asked, looking around and then back at Dr. Tripp.

“He’s right there, you just passed him,” Dr. Tripp replied, pointing at the young man identified as Jared.

“Where?”  JT asked, looking around again.

“Jared’s the guy,” Dr. Tripp replied, sighing.

“What!”  Mark screamed as he jumped up from where he sat on the bed and then grabbed the kid, slamming him into the wall.  “You hurt him!?  Why did you hurt him?”

“Mark stop!”  JT screamed as the officer and Dr. Trip both tried to pull Mark off the kid.

“Get the hell off of me!”  Mark screamed, holding the kid by the neck as he continued slamming the boy into the wall.  “I’m going to kill him!  He needs to die for hurting Kai the way he did!”

“Daddy Mark stop, please stop,” Kasai softly spoke as he cried.

“Oh baby,” JT said, getting up from his wheelchair as he walked over to Kasai and held him in his arms.

“Daddy, stop him before it’s too late.  I need both of you,” Kasai said as the tears streamed down his face.

“Mark Walden, let the kid go,” the officer said, trying to pull Mark away from the kid.  “Let the kid go, you’re killing him!”

“I’m going to kill him!”  Mark screamed.

“Release my boy Mark!”  Larry Tanner screamed, rushing into the room.

“Your boy raped our son!”  Mark screamed as the police officer and Dr. Tripp tackled him down to the floor.

“Let the police handle this Mark, you’ve done enough man,” Dr. Tripp whispered into Mark’s ear.  “Come on, let’s take a walk.  JT can take care of Kai.”

“I’m not leaving out of here!”  Mark screamed.  “Not until that little bastard pays for what he’s done!”

“Andy, would you please take him somewhere and let him cool down.  Once he’s done that, then bring him back,” JT suggested as Kasai cried harder in his arms.

“Are you okay Jared?”  Larry asked, helping his son up off the floor.

“My—my head hurts Dad,” Jared replied, crying as he rubbed at his head.

“What’s this all about?”  Larry asked, looking back and forth between JT, Dr. Tripp and the police officer.

“It’s very simple Larry, your son raped my son,” JT replied as he looked up at the man.

“What?  That’s not possible, my son isn’t a fag,” Larry said, putting his hands on his hips as Dr. Tripp sighed and then shook his head.

“Excuse me!”  JT snapped.  “I said your son raped my son!”

“I heard what you said and it’s not possible!  My son is straight, he doesn’t sleep with other boys,” Larry said, shaking his head.

“Apparently he does.  He raped my son and the police officer there has the DNA evidence to prove it!”  JT yelled as Kasai covered his ears.

“Daddy, please stop, don’t get angry,” Kasai softly said.

“That’s it, everyone out!  Everyone get out now!”  JT snapped as everyone stopped in their tracks, turned around and then exited the room.  “Baby, everything’s going to be okay, I’m here with you.”

“It’s not going to be okay.  Daddy Mark’s mad, you’re mad.  I shouldn’t have snuck out of the house,” Kasai said as he shook his head, sniffling as he rubbed at his eyes.

“Don’t you worry about that baby, just think about something else,” JT said as Dr. Tripp came back into the room with a sad look on his face.

“I gave Larry the report, he read it for himself and now the police have taken Jared into custody.  Jared told the officer who the other guys were that helped him.  They’ll pick them up too and they’ll be arrested,” Dr. Tripp stated as JT looked up at him.

“Good,” JT responded as he hugged onto Kasai.  “Where’s Mark?”

“He—he left.  He said he needed to go home,” Dr. Tripp replied with a frown.

“Oh God and you just let him go in his current state of mind?  Andy, can you stay here with him?  I need to go get Mark,” JT stated as he sat back down in his wheelchair and then left the room.

Down the Hall – The Emergency Room Waiting Area

Angela’s POV

It’s the start of the new year and it feels like it’s just an ordinary day.  For the start of the new year, too much crap has already happened.  Lord, please don’t let the rest of the year go like this day.  Sighing, I look around the area and see the woman that came in an hour ago with her husband.

I feel so sorry for the woman.  She’s been sitting here, all alone, probably wondering what’s happening with her husband.  Sighing, I shook my head and then looked around again.  Am I being watched or what?  Looking back over at the woman, I thought about how things would be if I was married right now.  If I was married and my husband was brought here, I would like to be back there, where he was, while the doctors worked on him.  I can sympathize with the way she feels right now, but I also know what’s going on behind those doors.  She’ll just have to wait until the doctors are done working with her husband and then she’ll possibly be able to see him.

Another hour has passed and I’m sitting here, placing paperwork back into the folders where I got it from.  It seems every time I try to organize these files, something happens to stop the progress on the organizing.  Stopping, I felt eyes on me as I looked around to see that damn ho Vagina, oops, I mean Valgina, standing in the doorway, watching me.  What the hell does the bitch want?  I just know she’s going to cause problems for us while she’s here.  I just wish JT could go ahead and fire her and the hospital finds someone else to take her place.  It’s not like she’s been here long to have tenure or anything, he’s her boss now, he should be able to get rid of her skanky ass.

Why in the hell is she watching me like that?  What in the hell does she want?  Better question, why in the hell did she come here?

“Hello Valgina, is there something I can help you with?”  I asked as she walked over to where I sat.

“Oh no Angela, I was just getting acquainted with where everything was.  There’s no need to worry your silly little head about me,” she replied with a smirk as she looked like the cat that stole the canary.

“Look ho, don’t come down here, starting any shit with me.  You haven’t started working here yet, so I suggest you step the fuck off and leave me the hell alone Vagina, oops, I meant Valgina,” I said, getting up from my chair.  “If you know what’s good for you, you’d take a hint and leave from ‘round here.”

“You fucking slut!  How dare you call me that!”  Valgina snapped, rushing over to where I was and smacking me in the face as I dropped the folders I just sorted.

“Oh hell naw!”  I yelled, lunging towards her as I pushed her up against the wall, punching and kicking at her.

“Get the fuck off of me you lesbian bitch!”  She screamed as I continued punching and kicking her as she tried to get away from me, but fell into the file storage room instead.

“You started this shit bitch!”  I snapped as I kept kicking her as she laid on the floor in the fetal position.

“Someone help me!  Help me please!”  She screamed, moving around, trying to block the kicks.

“Sorry ho, no one can help you now.  You should’ve thought about that shit when you walked into the work area, bothering someone, that wasn’t bothering you!”  I snapped, picking up a file box and slamming it down on top of her, knocking her ass out.  “I bet she’ll think twice before bothering me again.  What a way to start a new year.”

The Poole-Walden Estates – JT and Mark’s Bedroom

JT’s POV

“Are you okay baby?”  I asked, walking into the bedroom to see Mark lying face down on the bed.

“Go away,” he replied, sniffling.  “Just go away, go back to the hospital or something.  I don’t care where you go, just leave me alone.”

“Talk to me baby.  What’s going on?”  I asked, sitting down next to him as I kissed the back of his head.

“Do you really want to know baby?”  He asked, turning to face me as he sat up on the bed as I slid a bit to hold him in my arms.

“Yes, I want to know Mark,” I replied, rubbing his back.  “Just tell me what’s going through your mind.”

“I’m mad baby.  I’m mad as hell right now!”  He exclaimed, scaring me a bit.  “If I hadn’t grounded him, he never would’ve snuck out of the house.  If it wasn’t for me, he never would’ve been raped.”

“That’s not true Mark,” I told him as he shook his head as he cried on my chest.  “You’re not responsible for what Jared and those punks did to him.  You didn’t tell any of them to do what they did to him.”

“No, I didn’t tell them, but Kai never would’ve left the house to be put in that situation, if I wasn’t so hard on him,” he said as he cried harder.  “It’s all my fucking fault!”

He continued crying for a few minutes and then he shot up, getting out of the bed as he rushed out of the room.  In his current state of mind, I don’t know what to think about what he might do.  I got up, grabbed my crutches and moved towards the door, trying to find out where he was headed.

“Mark please!  Baby stop!  Don’t leave this house!”  I called out as I heard the front door open and then slam shut.

As I got to the bottom of the stairs, I heard him cursing, a car starts and then a few seconds later, tires were screeching out of the driveway.  Hell, he’s gone now and I’m here all alone.  Sitting down on the stairs, I felt the tears sliding down my face.  What am I going to do now?  I have a child that’s been raped, Valgina fucking Williams has returned to my life, to haunt and cause problems for me and my friends and now my husband is stricken with guilt that isn’t his own.  What can I do to fix all of this?

Florida Hospital – The Emergency Room

“I don’t believe it girl, you knocked her ass out?”  Tamara, one of the ER nurses asked, looking at Angela with a shocked expression on her face and then shook her head.

“Girl, I had to beat that ho down,” Angel replied, punching her fist into her hand.  “You don’t believe me, that ho still in the file room, on the floor, sleeping that ass whooping off.”

“I know you’re not just going to leave her in there, are you?”  Tamara asked as Angela grabbed her car keys off the desk.

“I don’t see why not.  I’m going to leave her ass back there,” Angela stated as she grabbed her purse and then pulled her jacket on.

“What if someone finds her ass in there?”  Tamara asked.

“They just find her ass in there,” Angela replied, shrugging her shoulders with a smile on her face.  “The bitch got what she deserved.  That’s been a long time coming.  I’ve been waiting a few years to do that to her ass.”

“But you might get into trouble over this Angie,” Tamara said as she shook her head.

“I might, but right now, I really don’t care,” Angela said as Kevin walked up to the nurses’ station.

“Hello beautiful,” Kevin said, kissing Angela on her cheek, surprising her.

“Hello Kevin, what’re you doing here?”  Angela asked.

“I thought I would surprise you so we could catch an early supper,” Kevin replied, leaning against the counter.

“I—I need to go home and change then,” Angela stated as she looked down.  “It would’ve been nice if I’d known you were coming here to pick me up.”

“Are you okay Angela?  Is there something wrong?”  Kevin asked, looking at Angela strangely.  “I thought we hashed all of this last night on our date.  Are you having second thoughts again?”

“I’m fine Kevin, I just have a lot of things on my mind,” Angela replied, walking around the counter.  “I’m not going out with you, looking like this.  I’m going home to shower.”

“That’s fine then.  Would you like me to follow you to your place?”  Kevin asked, looking Angela in the face.

“Why don’t we just take my car, it would save a whole lot of trouble,” Angela replied as she and Kevin walked through the lobby together as she waved at Tamara.

The Solarium

Nick’s POV

For the last two hours, we’ve been sitting here, enjoying each other’s company.  It’s just been the two of us, a nice steady and calm conversation, just us talking about ourselves, our dreams, our desires.  There’s been no hatred, no sadness, no negative stuff, just nothing but happiness and love.  I swear, he’s the guy I want to be with, for the rest of my life.

“I don’t want any of this to end Justin,” I softly spoke, kissing his lips.

“I don’t want it to end either baby,” he replied, pulling me back down as we shared another kiss.

I sat there in his lap, kissing the man I had fallen head over heels in love with.  I don’t care what my mother says, I love him and I always will.  There’s nothing she or anyone else can say to change this feeling I have in my heart or my soul.  I love him with all of me.

“I—I wish we could make love,” I said, kissing his lips again.  “I want us to be one; I crave for us to be intimate together.”

“Baby, I…” he said and then went quiet on me.

“Is there something wrong baby?”  I asked, lifting his chin with my fingers as I saw the tears spilling down his face.  “Justin?”

“No baby, there’s nothing wrong,” he replied, looking away from me.

“Don’t lie to me baby.  I know there’s something wrong, you’re crying,” I told him, caressing his cheek.

“I’m sorry baby, I just…” he said, looking down again.

“You just what baby?”  I asked, getting up out of his lap as I knelt down in front of him.

“I—I love you Nicky, but I—I don’t think what you want is possible,” he replied, moving away from me.

“What’re you doing Justin?  Where are you going?”  I asked, getting up and walking behind him.

“Your mother was right Nicky.  You don’t need to be with a cripple like me,” he said, opening the door and then rolling out of the room.

“Justin, stop!”  I screamed for him to stop, but he kept on going.  “Please Justin, please don’t leave me here.  Come back!”

An Hour Later – The El Valentera Restaurant

“Are you enjoying your meal Angela?”  Kevin asked, looking across the table at Angela.  “You’ve hardly touched your meal.”

“I’m sorry Kevin, I’m just not hungry right now,” Angela replied, pushing her dish out of the way.  “I guess I have some things on my mind.”

“Are you okay Angela?  You look like your best friend died, came back to life and then died again.  Do you care to talk about what’s on your mind?  You know I can return the favor,” Kevin stated as Valgina Williams walked up to their table.

“Well well wll, look what we have here.  If it isn’t the bitch formerly known as Angela Sebastian,” Valgina said, putting her hands on her hips.  “Excuse me man, what are you doing with a loser like her?”

“Excuse me?  Who in the hell are you calling a loser bitch?”  Angela asked, standing up from the table as she pointed her finger in Valgina’s face.

“I’m calling you a loser, you bitch!”  Valgina screamed, drawing attention to herself and Angela.

“Oh yeah ho, you’re just cruising for another beat down!”  Angela snapped, pushing Valgina backwards.

“Angela honey, please stop this,” Kevin said as he stepped in between Angela and Valgina and then stopped when he turned and looked at Valgina and then laughed. “Oh, you were joking right?  Her name really isn’t Vagina, is it?”

“That’s Valgina.  Mister, you must be out of your damn mind, being with a tramp like her.  If you want a real woman, get with me and I’ll show you a real good time,” Valgina stated as she pushed Angela, moving away from the table.

“I so don’t think so lady, I prefer Angela,” Kevin replied as he turned his back to Valgina as he grabbed Angela’s hand and then kissed the top of it.  “Angela, why don’t we go someplace else, it seems the atmosphere and scenery is terrible now.”

“Okay by me Kevin, I have a nicer place in mind, where we can go to get away from this madness,” Angela stated as the two of them made their way to the checkout, paid and then left the restaurant as Valgina tripped over her own feet, falling into the salad bar as she tried to watch Kevin and Angela walk out.

“Damn it!”  Valgina screeched as she jumped up, brushing lettuce from her blouse and cheese sauce from her face as she followed Angela and Kevin with her eyes as they walked down the street as she got outside.  “You might have gotten the upper hand on me earlier tonight at the hospital, but I’m going to whoop your ass bitch!”

“Bring that shit on bitch!”  Angela exclaimed as some people on the street watched.

“I’m not in a small area now.  I’m going to ram my foot up your ass, right after I ram this down your fucking throat!”  Valgina screamed, swinging her purse at Angela.

“Bring it baby, bring that shit!”  Angela hollered, grabbing Valgina’s arm in mid-jump as she kneed her in the stomach, punched her in the face and then elbowed her in the back, sending her down to the ground hard.

“Stop this Angela, you’re going to get into trouble for this,” Kevin stated, grabbing Angela’s hand as he dragged her down the street, heading towards her car.

The Poole-Walden Estates

JT’s POV

The time has surely flown by and I’m still sitting here at the bottom of the stairs.  The doorbell sounding, I sighed as I got up from the spot I had brooding in and walked over to the door, almost falling down, being that I didn’t pick up my crutches.  Opening the door, I saw someone I didn’t expect to see, standing there, looking back at me.

“Dean, what’re you doing here?”  I asked, moving back so the man could come in.

“Hi JT, how are you doing?”  He asked, leaning in close to hug me and then he kissed my cheek.

“I’m not so good at the moment,” I replied, walking into the family room.  “Why are you here Dean?”

“What?  I can’t come visit you when I want to?”  He asked, sitting down on the sofa.  “Where are Kai and that man you call your husband?”

“Kai’s in the hospital and I don’t know where Mark is,” I replied as Dean slid over to me, wrapping me in his arms, holding me tight.

“What happened to Kai?  Why is he in the hospital?”  He asked, looking me in the face.

“Some punks from his school beat him up and then raped him,” I replied, explaining to him about everything that had happened the previous day.

“Oh my God JT, why—why didn’t you call me and tell me what was going on?”  He asked, rubbing my back.

“Why would I call you Dean?” I asked as he looked at me with a hurt expression on his face.

“We may not be together anymore, but I still consider you and Kai a part of my family,” he replied just as his cell phone rang.  “Hold on, hello?  No, hell no, do whatever you fucking want to, I told you I was gone, so I’m gone damn it!”

“What was that all about?”  I asked, watching him.

“My agent,” he replied, getting up.

“Don’t tell me you fired another one, how many is that now?”  I asked.

“He makes number ten,” he replied, walking over to the television.  “I just can’t find a good modelling agent that I can trust JT.”

“I see,” I said as he sat back down across from me.

“So, have you eaten yet?”  He asked, grabbing my hand, holding it in his own.

“No, I can’t eat right now.  I’m too upset to eat anything.  I need Mark,” I replied, pulling my hand away from him.

“Why are you acting this way JT?”  He asked, grabbing my hand and pulling me up as he tried to hug me.

“Are you kidding me, it’s been a long time Dean.  What do you expect here, I moved on,” I told him.

“I—I know you did, but I—I didn’t,” he replied as the front door opened as Mark walked in.

“What the hell is this?  What’s going on here?”  Mark asked, walking into the family room to see us standing there.  “I walk out of the damn house to get some air for a bit and come back and you’ve got your ex in the house, doing only God knows what!”

“It’s not what you think,” I said, walking over to him as he shook his head and then walked away.  “Mark, Mark come back here!”

“Stay in there with lover boy, I don’t’ want to fucking see you.  How could you do this to me?”  Mark asked, stomping up the stairs.

“I—I didn’t do anything,” I said from the bottom of the stairs.  “Fine, believe what you fucking want to damn it!”

“I will!”  He screamed, slamming a door.

If I Ain’t Got You – Chapter 16

Chapter 16 — The New Year Ringeth In

Jan 1, 2003 – Orlando, FL – Florida Hospital – The Emergency Room’s Rape Trauma Unit – Kasai’s Room

“Daddy, is that you?”  Kasai weakly asked, opening his eyes and looking around the room.

“Yes Kai, I’m here baby,” JT replied, standing up on wobbly legs.

“I—I’m so sorry Daddy, I’m really sorry,” Kasai spoke as the tears streamed down his face.  “I—I should’ve never snuck out of the house.  If I would’ve done what Daddy Mark told me to do, I would be okay right now.”

“Shhh baby, don’t talk about that.  Everything’s going to be all right.  You’re with us now,” JT said as he held Kasai gently in his arms as he cried.

“But Daddy…” Kasai said, sniffling as JT rubbed his back and stopped him from talking.

“Shhh son, it’s all okay now.  Don’t worry about that right now,” JT said as Mark wrapped his arms around him and Kasai.

“I—I love you both,” Kasai said, sniffling again.

“We love you too,” Mark spoke as he kissed the top of Kasai’s head.  “Happy new year son.”

Later on – Nick’s Hospital Room

“Come on Nick, we have to leave, now,” Janet stated, moving around the room as she gathered Nick’s things, trying to pick them into a bag.

“Where are we going?”  Nick asked.

“We’re going back to Tampa,” Janet answered as Nick stood in place, looking at her.

“Why are we going back to Tampa?”  Nick asked, rubbing at his head.  “We can’t leave, I have to stay here at the hospital.”

“I’m having you transferred into the care of a doctor closer to home,” Janet stated as Aaron jumped up from where he sat.

“What are you trying to pull here Mom?”  Aaron asked, glaring at Janet.

“I’m not trying to pull anything,” Janet replied, looking at Aaron strangely.

“Yes you are damn it!”  Aaron snapped, looking over at Nick.  “You don’t have to leave here Bro.”

“I don’t want to leave, but…” Nick spoke as Aaron shook his head.

“I—I thought you were in love with Justin,” Aaron said with a sad look on his face.

“I am in love with him,” Nick replied, looking at Aaron with tears in his eyes.

“If you love him, stay here with him, don’t leave,” Aaron said, glaring at Janet once more.

“Shut up Aaron, he has no choice in the matter,” Janet stated, pointing her finger at Aaron.  “You stay out of this, none of this concerns you!”

“It does concern me.  You’re interfering in Nick’s life, taking him away from something that he needs, because you can’t seem to see past your own stuck up vision!”  Aaron snapped, shaking his head.  “So, what if Justin’s in a wheelchair, that doesn’t fucking mean he can’t make Nick happy.  You don’t see how Nick changes when he’s with Justin.  When he’s away from Justin, he goes back into his own world.  When they’re together, Nick livens up and he’s part of our world.”

“I don’t care.  I don’t want that cripple anywhere near my boy,” Janet said as she shook her head.  “And to keep that from happening, we’re going back home.”

“We’re not going anywhere Mom.  You can leave if you want, but we’re staying right here,” Aaron stated, looking at Janet as he crossed his arms across his chest, standing proud.

“I’m your mother; who in the hell do you think you’re talking to?  You don’t talk to me that way!”  Janet screamed, pointing her finger in Aaron’s face.  “What in the hell has gotten into you?”

“Yeah, you’re my mother, big whoop.  You’re the woman that claims to love us so much.  You’re the woman that stole money from us and then tried to have our dad killed so you could get the damn insurance money.  So yeah, some mother you are,” Aaron stated, shaking his head as Janet’s eyes widened.

“That’s not true, that’s all a lie!”  Janet screamed.

“What’s he talking about Mom?”  Nick asked, walking over to where Janet stood.  “You said that Dad was trying to kill you, the reason you two…”

“She’s lying bro,” Aaron said as he shook his head.  “To start, Mom here has been stealing from the both of us, since our careers started.  I had my lawyers and their accounts go over my account spending with a fine-tooth comb and they found out that Mom here has been skimming money off the top of things.”

“What!”  Nick snapped, turning to look at Janet again.

“After further digging, I found out that she had both of us fraudulently sign power of attorney statements to have her in control of our finances and our lives,” Aaron stated as Nick frowned and then shook his head.

“What is he talking about Mom?”  Nick asked, looking between Janet and Aaron.  “Is any of what he said true?”

“No, it’s not true at all.  Aaron’s lying, he made all up that up,” Janet stated, shaking her head with a worried expression on her face.

“Come on Mom, I’m lying?  Really Mom, really?”  Aaron said as he walked over to his jacket and then pulled some papers from an inside pocket and then walked back over to Nick, handing the papers to him.  “Check this out.”

“What is this?”  Nick asked, looking at Aaron strangely.

“Just read those,” Aaron replied with a smile as Nick looked at the papers.

“Mom, this says that you were granted power of attorney of me and my finances over three years ago,” Nick stated, reading over the papers.  “What have you taken from me?”

“I—I haven’t taken anything from you,” Janet replied, shaking her head as she stepped backwards.

“That’s a lie and you know it,” Aaron replied, handing Nick more documents to read.  “These are your bank statements, showing all of your deposits and withdrawals.  This here is a statement of your earnings.  The figures on both documents don’t match.  They don’t match at all.”

“Wait a minute!  Both of you just stop!  I need to sit down on this,” Nick said, walking over to the chair that was next to the bed and sitting down as Aaron followed him while Janet just stood away from the both of them.

“Bro, she’s been stealing from both of us for years.  I had our lawyers go over everything and they’ve reversed the POAs that she had us falsely sign.  You’re in control of your own life Bro.  She can’t force you to go anywhere Nick.  Stay here and be with Justin if you want to be with him.  If you want, I’ll stay here with you,” Aaron stated, hugging Nick around the neck.  “You’re my brother and I want you to be happy.”

“I’m not going to stand here and listen to any of this,” Janet said, shaking her head.

“You don’t have to listen Mom.  It would be better if you just left.  You’ll be in court real soon any way.  I hope you haven’t spent the money you stole from us.  You’ll be giving it all back,” Aaron stated, crossing his arms across his chest, glaring at Janet.

“Do you honestly want to stay here Nick?  Do you really want to be with that damn crippled man?  Hell, he’s not even a real man, he can’t walk.  I’m trying to spare you from ending up, being hurt by this so-called relationship,” Janet said as she shook her head and then threw her hands up.  “You stand to gain nothing from being with him.   Ha, he can’t even stand at all.”

“I love him Mom.  I’m going to stay here.  I don’t care if he’s in a wheelchair or not.  Our love is more than something physical, it goes way deeper than that,” Nick spoke as the tears welled up in his eyes.  “I’ve gained his love and that’s enough for me.”

“I don’t understand you Nick.  I’ve tried… I’ve tried everything in my power to change your mind of this lifestyle.  I just wish you would stop all of this madness.  There’s a woman in this world, somewhere just for you,” Janet stated as she turned up her nose and then shook her head again.

“I’m gay, get over it already.  I’ll always be gay.  There’s nothing in this world, that’s going to change my way of living and I’m not giving up on Justin,” Nick stated, pointing his finger at Janet.

“But you being this way is a sin Nick,” Janet said, glaring at Nick as he waved his hand dismissively at her.  “You’re a sinner against God.”

“If he’s a sinner, then so am I,” Aaron declared, stepping in front of Janet as Nick and Janet both looked at him.

“What!”  Janet snapped, backing away from Aaron.

“That’s right Mom, I’m gay too.  I’ve always been gay, but I never chose to tell you, mainly because I saw the way you acted towards Nick.  Now I just don’t give a flying rat’s ass about it anymore,” Aaron stated as he leaned in and kissed Nick on the cheek and then walked out of the room.

“Oh God, both of my boys are gay, just like their father!  Am I being punished for something Lord?  I—I don’t believe this!  Is everyone in the world gay?”  Janet asked, grabbing her purse from the bed as she rushed out of the room, leaving Nick alone to read the rest of the documents that Aaron had left with him.

The Emergency Room’s Rape Trauma Unit – Kasai’s Room

Mark’s POV

This is a terrible way to start off the damn new year.  Last night and today have been very trying for all of us.  First JT gets his bad news about his childhood enemy working here at the hospital, in his department and then I get into an argument with Kai and then he ends up here because he got attacked.

I guess—I guess this is God’s way of testing us, to see how much we can handle.  This is all just a bit much I say, but I’m not the one in control of things.  JT’s a strong man, but he isn’t that strong.  My baby has gone through too much over the last couple of years.  I see this as the straw that broke the camel’s back.  Please God, please get us through this.  Don’t let this be how the rest of the year is going to go or we probably won’t make it.

“Daddy, Daddy help me, please help me,” Kasai spoke in his sleep.  “They’re hurting me, they’re hurting me, make them stop.  Please make them stop.  I’ll be a good boy, I promise, just make them stop.”

“Oh God, he must be having a nightmare about what happened to him,” I said, wrapping my arms around him, trying to comfort him.  “Oh God, please take this pain away from him.”

“Ah, hi there,” Aaron said as he walked into the room.  “I’m sorry for intruding, but Nurse Sebastian said that I could find Mr. Poole in here.”

“He—he went back up to his office, it’s up on the second floor,” I spoke, recognizing the guy as Nick Canton’s little brother.

“Ah, is everything okay?”  Aaron asked, looking at us closely.  “What happened, if you don’t mind me asking?”

“I do mind.  Could you please leave… my son and I would like to be left alone,” I told him as I continued hugging Kai as he opened his eyes again and then held onto me tightly as he cried.

“I—I’m sorry.  Thank you for telling me where to find Mr. Poole,” Aaron replied, turning around and walking out of the room.

“It’s going to be alright Kai, I promise you that.  It’s all going to be alright,” I told him as I rubbed his back.

“I’m so sorry Daddy Mark, I should’ve listened to you,” he said, sniffling as he coughed.

“Shhhh now, don’t worry about that.  Just get your mind off of that,” I said, rocking him back and forth in my arms.

“They hurt me Daddy Mark, they just hurt me… They—they wouldn’t stop,” he said, sounding like a person that’s lost everything.

“I know Kai, I know,” I replied, crying with him.  “The pain will go away; you just have to give it time.”

“I—I want it to stop—stop now!  I can’t take it Daddy Mark,” he said, crying harder as I did all I could to try and calm him down.

The Second Floor – JT’s Office

“Sir, you need to calm down and try to work with us here,” a police officer spoke as JT looked at the man and then shook his head.

“When they brought him into the ER, they did a rape kit on him!”  JT snapped, pointing his finger at the officer.

“Well there seems to be a problem, no one can seem to find the specimens that were collected,” the police officer stated as he stepped backwards from JT’s desk.

“What!  What in the hell do you mean there seems to be a problem?  Why can’t they find the damn specimens?  I saw the doctor on call, catalog them!”  JT snapped, pointing his finger at the police officer again.  “You need to go back down to the ER and speak with Andrew, Andrew Tripp!”

“Look Mr. Poole, you need to calm down and listen to what I’m trying to tell you here,” the police officer stated with a frown.

“I don’t need to calm down!  You need to get down to the ER and do your fucking job!”  JT screamed as he shook his head.

“Mr. Poole, if you would just…” the police officer started again as JT interrupted him.

“I SAID NOW!  GET THE HELL OUT OF MY FUCKING OFFICE, I MEAN IT DAMN IT!”  JT screamed as the police officer sighed, turned around and then walked to the door, opening as he bumped into Aaron.

“Ah, sorry kid.  I don’t think you want to go in there right now,” the police officer said as he put his hat on and then walked away from the door.

“Excuse me; I’m here to see you Mr. Poole.  Are—are you available to talk?”  Aaron asked, standing in front of JT’s desk as JT sat there with his eyes covered.

“How may I help you?”  JT asked, looking up at Aaron as he took a sip of his coffee.

“I’m Aaron, Aaron Canton, Nick’s my brother,” Aaron stated.

“Yes, I know, it’s nice to officially meet you.  Now, what can I do for you?”  JT asked.

“I would like to know what could be done about Nick’s status.  Basically, I want to know if my mother can force him to leave here, to go to another doctor, that’s if he doesn’t want to go,” Aaron said as JT looked at him strangely.

“She can’t force him to leave, if he doesn’t want to go,” JT replied. “If he says ‘no’, then she has no control over him, unless she has power of attorney over him or she has some form of guardianship over him.”

“She had power of attorney over him and me, but I had our lawyers overturn that,” Aaron said with a frown.  “What I’m trying to get at here is that, if his doctor was to say that he’s ‘crazy’, could she use that against him and force him to leave and go wherever she wants to take him?”

“She possibly could, but I doubt anyone here at this hospital would diagnose Nick as being ‘crazy’,” JT stated as he quoted with his fingers.

“What if she brings in an outside doctor to see him?”  Aaron asked as JT put his coffee mug down.

“She could do that, but if Nick isn’t exhibiting any negative behaviors to make anyone think that he’s ‘crazy’ or mentally unstable, then there’s nothing your mother can really do to him,” JT stated as he took another sip of his coffee.  “Does this have anything to do with Justin?”

“I think so.  She—she doesn’t want them together and she really doesn’t like the gay thing,” Aaron stated with a frown.

“Not to go into great detail or anything, but Nick is sane as anyone else around in this place.  He’s not crazy, he just had a little bit of bad luck in his life is all,” JT stated as Mark burst into the room.

“You’re the guy I just saw downstairs,” Aaron said, looking at Mark strangely.

“Sorry for the way I behaved down there,” Mark stated, frowning.  “I was just having a bad moment.”

“It’s okay,” Aaron said with a small smile.  “Mr. Poole, maybe we should reschedule this for a later time.”

“Yes, yes please.  Just leave me your number and a time for when it’s convenient to talk and I’ll give you a call,” JT said as Aaron shook his hand and then handed him a card as he waved and then left the room.

“Mark, why are you up here?”  JT asked, looking at Mark strangely.

“They have suspects baby.  One of the guys that hurt our boy has done it to someone else before,” Mark stated as JT got up from his desk.

“How do you know this?”  JT asked, looking at Mark like he was crazy.

“The cops are down in the lab with Andy.  They had him and another technician do the analysis.  The DNA analysis is complete and they’ve gotten a match to two of the people that was involved in hurting him,” Mark explained as he held JT in his arms.  “They’re going to get the guys and see if Kai can identify them.”

“I—I don’t think he’s ready for that.  Do you think he’s ready?”  JT asked, looking down, his hands trembling.

“No, but he needs to do it, so those guys can be punished for what they did to him,” Mark stated as JT’s pager beeped repeatedly.

“That’s Andy, let me call him and see what’s up,” JT said as he picked up the phone and called down to the ER.

“Yo’ JT, I think you and Mark better get down here and quick,” Dr. Tripp’s voice filled the room.

“What’s going on Andy?”  JT asked.

“I tried to get them to wait until you or Mark was here with him, but they took the guy that attacked Kasai into his room anyway.  He woke up and saw the man and now he’s freaking out really bad,” Dr. Tripp explained as JT shook his head.

“What in God’s name are those fools thinking?”  JT asked as he looked at Mark.  “Baby, get down there now!  I’ll be down there in a minute; just get down there now.  Get to my baby, he’s going crazy…”

Justin’s Hospital Room

“What’re you doing kid?”  Christina asked, walking into the room.

“Nothing,” Justin replied, looking around.  “I’m just sitting here, doing nothing, as always it seems.”

“You sound so down sweetie.  Are you still upset about this morning?”  Christina asked, walking over to Justin.  “Wait, don’t answer that.”

“Well…” Justin said, looking up at her.

“Don’t start downing yourself again.  I’m stopping you from doing that right now.  I want to hear something positive,” Christina stated as there was a knock at the door.

“Come on in,” Justin called out as Nick walked into the room.

“Hello Justin,” Nick softly spoke as he stepped a bit into the room.  “Hi there Christina.”

“Hi Nick,” Christina spoke, waving at Nick as she walked over and hugged him.

“Are—are you busy right now Justin?”  Nick asked.

“No baby, I’m never too busy for you,” Justin replied, reaching out his hand to Nick.  “Come over here.”

“Awwww, that’s so sweet and romantic.  Should I leave you two alone?”  Christina asked as Nick sat down in Justin’s lap.

“You don’t have to leave because of me being here Christina.  I just wanted to come be with Justin.  You—you don’t have to go,” Nick replied, looking over at her.

“Cool,” Christina said just as there was another knock at the door.

“Come in,” Justin called out again as Joshua walked into the room.

“Hello Jus…” Joshua trailed off, locking eyes with Christina as his expression changed. “Chrissy wait, please… I just wanted to see how he was doing.  Don’t do anything, please.”

“What in the hell do you want Josh?  Why in the hell are you really here?”  Christina asked, glaring at Joshua.  “I thought I made myself clear a while back.  I thought I made it clear that you should never show your face here again.  It seems you don’t handle directions very well.  I guess I have to beat your ass again.”

“Look Chrissy, I’m not here for any trouble. I only came to see how he was doing,” Joshua replied, holding both of his hands up.

“As you can see, he’s doing fine, now leave!”  Christina screamed just as Jamie and Marshall walked into the room behind Joshua.

“What’s going on… What in the hell are you doing in here Josh?”  Jamie asked as Marshall grabbed him quickly, to keep him away from Joshua.

“Damn, I only came to see him.  I guess I better go since you have so many bodyguards around here,” Joshua sarcastically said as he walked out of the room, passing all of them as Jamie punched him in the back of the head and then closed the door.

“Good fucking riddance,” Jamie said, shaking his head.  “Are you okay Justin?”

“I’m fine, thanks you guys.  I’m glad you guys were here.  I really didn’t want to deal with him,” Justin stated as he sighed.

“Well you don’t have to deal with him.  Hopefully this time he got the message, loud and clear.  If it didn’t sink in, I can always beat his ass again,” Christina said with a smirk.

“Don’t do that, you’ve already beaten him once,” Justin said as he looked over at her.

“Whoa, you were the one that did that to him?  I better not get on your bad side,” Marshall said, stepping behind Jamie.

“I wouldn’t do that to you.  Besides, I’m quite sure you would give me a run for my money,” Christina said, patting Marshall on the back.  “But you know me, I’m better than Big Daddy.”

“Yeah, I still remember the song,” Marshall replied with a frown.

“Your ex inspired me to sing it,” Christina said as she sat down next to Justin and Nick.  “So, what do you two have planned, if anything?  Anything set up for the new year?”

“We’re going down to the solarium, we’ll chill out there for a bit and watch the festivities,” Nick said with a smile on his face as he caressed Justin’s.

“That really sounds nice and romantic,” Christina said, tilting her head to the side and smiling at Nick and Justin.

“It sure does.  Why don’t we do stuff like that anymore?”  Jamie asked, wrapping his arms around Marshall.

“Probably because we never have time for stuff like that, we’re both so busy,” Marshall stated as he looked down with a frown on his face.

“We have the time now baby.  We aren’t doing anything,” Jamie said, looking Marshall in the face with a pout.  “Let’s go do something nice and romantic.”

“Okay, come on then,” Marshall spoke, grabbing Jamie’s hand as the two of them waved and headed towards the door.  “Me and my love bunny here will be back in a few hours.  You guys have fun.”

“Oh wow, now it’s only me, all by myself,” Christina stated as she crossed her arms.  “What a way to start this new year off.”

“You can hang with us Chrissy, that’s if you like,” Justin told her.

“No, you two go on, I’m going to find me something to get into.  I’ll be back later on,” Christina said as she leaned in and kissed both guys on the cheek.  “Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.”

“Great, that means we can do anything,” Justin said, laughing at the look on Christina’s face as she blushed and then shot him the bird.

“I’m gonna get you for that one mister,” Christina said as she laughed and then walked out of the room.

If I Ain’t Got You – Chapter 15

Chapter 15 — Not Exactly The New Year

Dec 31, 2002 – Orlando, FL – Florida Hospital – The Emergency Room’s Rape Trauma Unit – Kasai’s Room

“Calm down baby, he’s going to be okay,” Mark spoke, hugging JT.

“I can’t calm down Mark.  My baby has been violated and you’re telling me to calm down!”  JT snapped, pushing Mark away from him.  “I’m not going to calm down until I find the men that did that to him!”

“Baby no, let the police handle that.  You need to stay right here with me, so we can make sure that our boy is okay,” Mark said, kissing JT on his forehead as he cried.

“I knew I recognized that voice.  Well, if it isn’t the faggot better known as John Poole,” Mark and JT heard as they turned around to see a light-skinned black woman standing in the doorway to Kasai’s room.

“Baby, who in the hell is that?”  Mark asked, turning to look at the woman.

“I don’t need this crap right now.  Valgina, I’m in no damn mood to deal with you or your fucked up crap, so take it elsewhere,” JT stated, turning away from the woman as he hugged Mark again.

“This is just a touching scene.  Why are you down here, instead of working in your office?”  The woman asked, walking further into the room.

“Look lady, can’t you see that we’re in the middle of a private family moment here?  Please leave,” Mark said as he glared at her.

“Who in the hell are you?  I know you’re not his boy-toy Steve,” the woman stated as she got up in Mark’s face.

“Look woman and I say that very loosely, I don’t know you and you sure as hell don’t know me.  I think you should just walk out of here, before you bite off more than you can actually chew,” Mark stated, pointing his finger at her.

“Excuse me, you’re not the boss of me,” the woman stated, waving her hand dismissively in Mark’s face.

“No he’s not, but I am,” JT stated, turning around again as he wiped at his eyes.

“Yeah, like you have the guts to do anything to me.  You were a punk ass bitch in high school and you’re probably a punk ass bitch now,” the woman stated with a smirk on her face.

“I have more than guts right now Valgina.  I’m not a child anymore, so get the fuck out of here!”  JT snapped, pointing his finger at the door.

“I…” The woman stated before Mark interrupted her.

“You heard what my husband said.  Get the hell out of here, before you write a check that your ass can’t cash.  Get to steppin’, you skanky body part.  What kind of name is Valgina anyway?  It sounds like your parents wanted to name your skanky ass ‘pussy’, but were too afraid you would get used by a lot of pricks,” Mark stated as he waved his hand at her as he grabbed his sides, laughing at the expression on her face as she turned and then stomped away out of the room.

“Thanks baby,” JT stated, kissing Mark on the cheek.  “I don’t think I’ve ever seen that woman leave a room that fast before in my whole entire life.”

“Serves the ho right for coming in here.  Our son isn’t doing okay and she was only causing us more stress,” Mark said as he sat down in the chair next to Kasai’s bed and then pulled JT into his lap.

“I just wish there was a way to take all of this pain away from him,” JT said as he sighed.  “No one should ever be raped. We could’ve done something to prevent this.  Something we could’ve done to keep him from being hurt like this.”

“Baby, things happen.  We can’t control what happens in his life all the time,” Mark said with a frown as he hugged JT.  “I grounded him to keep him from that sort of trouble, but he snuck out of the house to go have fun instead.  I’m not saying that this is his fault, but if he would’ve just stayed home, like I told him to, he probably wouldn’t be here right now.”

“Baby…” JT said as Mark cut him off.

“I’m telling the truth and you know I am.  If he would’ve just stayed home, he wouldn’t be here right now,” Mark said as JT hugged him.

“I know, I just don’t know what to think right now,” JT said as he wiped at his eyes again.  “Too much shit happening, all at once.”

“Things are going to be okay baby, trust me,” Mark said as he kissed JT on his forehead as Kasai’s hand moved.

“Come on son, wake up, we miss you.  I know I was rough on you, but I love you buddy.  Come on back to us.  We miss you very, very much,” Mark said as the tears streamed down his face.

“Come on Kai, you can do it buddy.  Daddy’s right here, waiting for ya,” JT said as the tears streamed down his face.  “Please son, wake up for me.  Come on, I know you can do it.”

Late Evening – The Hospital’s Prison Ward

“Evening Jack, what’s with the new guy down the hall?”  A doctor asked, walking through the double doors that led into the ward.  “What’s the deal with him?”

“He’s been comatose like that, since he was brought into the infirmary,” the police office replied as the doctor walked over to a counter and picked up a chart.

“What happened to him?”  Eric Jones, the prison ward doctor asked, flipping through some pages on the chart.

“He was raped by another inmate in his cell.  The other inmate beat him pretty badly before any of the officers got to him.  He lost a lot of blood and…” The police officer rambled on as the doctor interrupted him.

“What?  Can you run all of that by me again?”  Dr. Jones said, looking at the officer strangely.

“He lost a lot of blood.  When we got to him, he was already unconscious,” the officer stated as the doctor shook his head.

“And you guys are just now bringing him here to the hospital?  What kind of jail are you people running over there?”  Dr. Jones asked, looking at the officer like he was crazy.

“Look man, I followed proper protocol and procedure first.  The doctors at the jail couldn’t figure out why he was still unconscious and it came down from the chief to go ahead and transfer him here to you guys,” the officer stated as he signed some papers on the clipboard and then handed them to the doctor.  “He’s your responsibility now.  Someone will be back later on to record his condition and advise the court of his condition.”

“What’s he in for?”  Dr. Jones asked.

“He raped someone in this very hospital,” the officer stated.  “Again, he’s your responsibility now.”

“Oh, that’s just preachy,” Dr. Jones stated as he sighed and then pressed the speakerphone button as the officer walked through the double doors and then entered a code into the security panel as a different set of doors opened to the rest of the hospital.

“What’s up Eric, what do you have?”  Dr. Tripp’s voice rattled through the speaker of the phone.

“Hi Andrew, I have a… Hold on a sec, let me look… Let’s see here, I have a Brian T. Lang up here.  He needs to be added to the admissions log,” Dr. Jones stated as he read through the rest of the chart.

“The name sounds familiar.  That’s it, he’s in a band.  Dang, we have a lot of celebrities in this hospital,” Dr. Tripp stated.  “Okay, just e-mail me his information or send the chart down and I’ll add him to the log.”

“I’ll do that,” Dr. Jones stated as he shook his head.  “Oh yeah, he’s a rape victim.  I think Danielle or JT might need to talk to him, once he wakes up.”

“Sorry guy, Danielle doesn’t work here anymore, she resigned,” Dr. Tripp stated.

“Say what?  Damn, she was a hot one.  I guess I won’t get the chance to go out with her now,” Dr. Jones stated as he sighed.

“Nope my friend, you won’t get a chance to do that.  She left to move out to California.  She’s going to marry her long-time sweetheart,” Dr. Tripp stated as Dr. Jones shook his head.

“Well that’s a double damn.  I guess I have to find another chick to score with.  She was totally hot,” Dr. Jones said as he sighed and then rubbed his crotch.  “So, who’s taking her place?”

“Some woman named Valgina Wililams,” Dr. Tripp stated as Dr. Jones looked at the phone, shook his head and then cracked a smile.

“Did you say vagina man?”  Dr. Jones asked, putting the clipboard down.

“No, I said Valgina,” Dr. Tripp replied, laughing.  “Val-gina, get it, Valgina Williams.”

“Damn man, that’s funny as hell.  You make it sound like we’ll have a big ass pussy, working here in the hospital,” Dr. Jones said as he shook his head, laughed again and then stopped when he noticed Brian moving around on his bed.  “Look Andrew, I have to go.  It seems Mr. Lang has awakened.”

“Okay man, keep me updated with information and don’t forget to send me that chart,” Dr. Tripp stated as the speaker made some clicking noises and then it turned off.

“Yeah yeah, it’s one hassle after another one.  I hope this Valgina woman is a looker like Danielle, if so, I’ll have my scorecard filled really soon,” Dr. Jones said as he turned his attention to Brian.

Down in Nick’s Hopital Room

“Where have you been Nick?”  Janet asked, standing at the window in Nick’s room as Steve and Nick walked into the room.

“I was in a counseling session with JT and Steve,” Nick answered, sitting down on his bed.

“You’ve been gone most of the morning and afternoon.  I didn’t know you had a session that early.  No one told me about it,” Janet stated as Aaron walked into the room.

“Dang mom, I told you about his session earlier when you were on the phone,” Aaron stated as he sat down on the bed next to Nick and then hugged him.  “Hey bro, how are you holding up?”

“I’m doing good, I think,” Nick replied, ruffling Aaron’s hair.

“Hey hey, watch the hair,” Aaron said as he laughed.

“Oh whatever, it’s just your hair.  I’m your big brother, I have a right to mess it up if I want to,” Nick said as he laughed as the doctor walked into the room.

Downstairs – The Emergency Room – The Nurses’ Station

“Where are you going?  It’s not time for you to get off yet,” Angela said, walking behind the desk as she watched Steve clock out.

“Look Angie, I’m not in the mood right now.  I just ran into that bitch Valgina and… and I’m going home for the rest of my shift,” Steve stated as the tears streamed down his face.

“What—what did she say Steve?”  Angela asked.

“She said enough to make me want to quit this bitch,” Steve said, shaking his head as he wiped at his eyes.  “I think—I think I need a drink.”

“No Steve, you don’t need a drink.  Just go home and chill out.  I’ll come over and cheek on you later on,” Angela stated as she hugged him.  “Don’t let Valgina get you down.  I don’t think she’s going to be around here long.”

“I hope she isn’t, I don’t know how long I can last if she is,” Steve stated as he walked past Angela, heading out the door as Kevin walked in with Joshua following close behind him.

“Oh, what in the hell is this?  He’s with that guy again,” Angela said to herself.  “I think something’s going on between those two.”

“Hello Angela,” Kevin spoke, walking up to the counter as Angela glared at him and then looked back down at the chart she was reading.

“What is it that you want Kevin?”  Angela sarcastically asked.

“I—I wanted to see how you were doing and to find out whether or not you were free for dinner tonight.  Can we go on that dinner date we had scheduled for the other night?”  Kevin asked.

“Why would I go to dinner with you Kevin?  Can you answer me that?”  Angela asked.

“Because…” Kevin said and then stopped speaking.

“Because what Kevin?”  Angela asked, looking back up at him as she flipped a page in the chart.

“Because I like you and I want to go out with you,” Kevin replied in a soft voice.

“You can’t like me, it seems you spend all of your time with that man over there,” Angela said as she pointed at Joshua.  “Are you seeing that guy there?”

“Ah…” Kevin stuttered.

“Are you?  If you are, I have no use for a gay man Kevin.  I’m not the type of woman that likes to be strung along, around someone’s finger, with my emotions being played with,” Angela stated as she side-eyed Kevin.

“Well I ah…” Kevin stammered.

“Just be quiet Kevin.  I already have my answer,” Angela stated, picking up the chart and walking away from the counter.

“Wait a minute Angela, give me a chance here,” Kevin called out, shaking his head as he moved away from the counter.

“Why should I give you a chance Kevin?  It’s obvious you’re not the man for me,” Angela said as she shook her head.  “Just tell me the truth Kevin, be honest with me, be honest with yourself.”

“I like you Angela, I really do.  The truth is, I was confused once and I fooled around with Josh in the past, but I don’t want him, I want a woman in my life,” Kevin stated as he reached for Angela’s hand and she let him take it.

“You were confused?  If you don’t want him, then why is he still around you?”  Angela asked, looking over Kevin’s shoulder to see that Joshua was still standing around.

“He—he’s trying to convince me that he’s what I want and need, but I think differently about that,” Kevin said as he shook his head.

“I’ll go out to dinner with you, but I have to think about this, so don’t expect anything else to happen besides dinner,” Angela stated.

“That’s cool with me.  All I ask for is a chance to show you me,” Kevin stated as he kissed Angela’s hand.

“Fine, but if you screw up or I catch you with him again, this is over Kevin,” Angela stated as she pointed her finger at him, poking him in the chest.  “There will be no ifs, ands or buts about it Kevin, completely over.  You will be out of my life, faster than marijuana in the hands of a pothead.”

“I understand Angela.  I’m going to do everything in my power to do right by you,” Kevin said with a smile.

“You do that,” Angela stated as Kevin kissed her hand again.  “I’ll see you around seven.”

“I’ll be here,” Kevin said as he looked at his watch.

“Good,” Angela said as she smiled and then walked off.

Late Evening – Downtown Orlando – A Trendy Night Club

“Hey man, what can I get for you?”  The bartender asked as Alex McCall walked over to the bar and then took a seat.

“Yeah man, let me get a shot of tequila… better yet, just bring me the whole damn bottle with a glass,” Alex said as the bartender looked at him strangely, did as he asked and then placed the bottle on the counter in front of him.  “Thanks.”

“Welcome,” the bartender replied as Alex placed some money on the counter, grabbed the bottle and glass and then walked away.

“Hey, watch where you’re going man,” Steve spoke up as Alex bumped into him.

“No, you watch where the fuck you’re going guy,” Alex said as he pushed Steve backwards.  “You bumped into me retard.”

“No jerk, I didn’t bump into you, you bumped into me!”  Steve snapped, grabbing Alex by the collar of his shirt and pushing him up against a table as the bartender and a bouncer rushed over to the two of them.

“You two, break it up or I’ll toss you both out of here on your asses,” the bartender stated, pushing both men apart.

“He started it,” Steve whined, trying to get a hold of Alex again.

“I don’t care who started it, it ends right now, got it!”  The bartender snapped, looking between both men.  “If I hear anything else from either of you, your asses will be tossed out on the street like trash, you feel me?”

“Fine,” Steve replied, calming down as he turned away from the bartender.

“Yeah fine, I got it,” Alex said as the bartender pointed his finger at both men and then walked away with the bouncer.

“I—I know you.  You were at the hospital this morning.  I saw you leaving a patient’s room,” Steve said, looking at Alex closely.

“Yeah, so what,” Alex said as he waved his hand at Steve dismissively.

“Look buddy, I don’t know what your…” Steve said as Alex cut him off.

“I—I’m sorry dude; I’m having a really bad day.  I didn’t mean to take it out on you,” Alex said, looking down as he sighed.

“It’s okay, we both seem to be having one of those,” Steve said, walking over to a table and then sitting down.  “Would you like to join me?”

“Sure, as long as you let me buy you a drink,” Alex said as he looked at Steve with a smile on his face.

“That’s a deal,” Steve replied, smiling at Alex.

“What would you like?”  Alex asked as he placed his bottle of tequila on the table.

“Whatever you’re having, is totally fine with me,” Steve replied, smiling again.

“As you can see, I have this bottle of tequila,” Alex said, tapping the bottle and then winking his eye at Steve.

“You must be really having a bad day, to have the whole bottle,” Steve said with a frown.

“It seems like this whole day has been one big mess,” Alex said with a frown on his face.  “What got you down, on this hectic, but lovely last day of the year and all?”

“Someone from my past returned and that’s a very bad thing,” Steve replied as he looked down and then sighed.

“Yeah, I know how that goes,” Alex replied as he shook his head.  “I kept a very bad secret from my friends and it ended up causing one of them a great deal of pain.  If I had told my friends about what was going on, I wouldn’t be having such a bad day right now.”

“Does this have anything to do with Mr. Canton?”  Steve asked.

“Mr. Canton?  Oh, you mean Nick.  Yeah, it involves him,” Alex replied as he poured another glass full of the liquid and knocked it back as Steve’s eyes widened.

“Does your secret have anything to do with the person responsible for him trying to hurt himself?”  Steve asked.

“I—I guess so,” Alex replied, sighing as he knocked another glass full back.

“Are—are you the person responsible for what happened?”  Steve asked, watching Alex closely.

“No!”  Alex snapped, covering his mouth quickly as he looked over his shoulder to see if the bartender or the bouncer heard him.  “I’m not the person responsible for that, but I could’ve prevented it… I could’ve stopped him before it got to…”

“How so?  How do you figure into all of that?”  Steve asked, still watching Alex closely.

“It’s a long story,” Alex replied, looking down at the table.

“Well I have nothing but time this evening,” Steve said, pouring himself a glass of the liquid pacifier.

“Well, it all started…” Alex started, telling Steve how he and the other members of the Fifth Avenue Boys met and how Nick ended up in the position he’s currently in.

“I understand your position here Alex, but he’s your friend.  You should’ve told the others what was going on.  I know you said you didn’t want to get involved in their relationship, but I would want JT, Mark or Angie to tell someone if my boyfriend was hurting me,” Steve said as he looked down.  “Not that I would have a boyfriend like that… Regardless, I wouldn’t allow myself to get into that kind of relationship.”

“So, you’re gay too?”  Alex said, smiling weakly as he looked over the rim of his glasses at Steve.

“Ah yeah, I’m gay too,” Steve replied, watching Alex for any signs of a reaction and then he looked down at his hands.

“That’s cool,” Alex responded as he looked over at Steve.  “We’ve been sitting here for a while now.  How about we go someplace else and chill out and have something to eat?”

“That sounds good to me,” Steve said as he and Alex got up from the table and then walked out of the bar.

A Few Hours Previously – Florida Hospital – Justin’s Hospital Room

“I love him Momma, there’s nothing more to say about it,” Justin said, shaking his head.

“I know you do son, but his mother doesn’t want you two being together,” Lynn stated, rubbing Justin’s back as he cried.

“If I can’t have him in my life, then I wish I were dead,” Justin declared, sniffling as Lynn shook her head.

“No son, don’t talk like that,” Lynn said as Jamie, Christina and Joey walked into the room.

“What’s poppin’ around here?”  Christina asked, walking over to Justin and then sitting down in his lap.

“That damn Janet Canton is taking Nick away from me,” Justin replied as Christina looked at him strangely and then up at Lynn.

“What?  Why is she doing a thing like that?”  Christina asked as Jamie looked at Lynn also.

“She doesn’t want her son being with me because I’m a fucking cripple,” Justin replied.

“We’ve told you over and over again to not talk like that.  You’re not a cripple.  You’re just walking challenged right now,” Christina stated, getting up out of Justin’s lap as she got on her knees in front of him.  “Don’t let Janet Canton make decisions for you or Nick.  If you two have feelings for each other, then you should do what you can to not let her change those feelings.  Tell Nick, tell him how much you care for him Justin.”

“He—he knows how much I care for him already Chrissy.  It’s not him, it’s his damn mother that doesn’t care if I care about him or not.  She’s determined to keep us apart,” Justin stated as Lynn shook her head and then took his hand.

“What brought all of this up?”  Jamie asked, looking at Justin and then back to Lynn.

“He’s scared because Nick’s going to be released from here tomorrow.  Once he leaves here, he and Justin won’t be able to be together.  Janet has already told the doctor that she’s going to take him back to Tampa and get him some help there,” Lynn explained to the others in the room.

“Apparently, she doesn’t know it’s not wise to interfere in the lives of other people,” Joey stated as he folded his arms across his chest and then shook his head.  “She’s a real bad bitch.”

“Watch your mouth young man,” Lynn spoke, chastising Joey as she shook her head.

“Come on, we’re talking about Janet Canton here.  You know, the same woman that plotted and schemed to get her husband killed and tried to steal money from her other son.  Janet’s a heartless woman.  She can be downright ruthless,” Jamie stated as he shook his head.

“She’s a heartless woman, but we have to do something to keep her from taking Nick from me,” Justin said as the tears streamed down his face.  “Please guys; please don’t let her take Nick away from me.  I can’t bear it if he’s not here with me.”

“I—I’ll see what I can find out, but if the doctor is releasing him, then there’s really nothing more that can be done, unless Nick himself, chooses not to go with her,” Lynn stated with a frown.

“Where’s the JT guy?  I haven’t seen him since you left this morning,” Jamie stated as he looked back at Justin.

“Something happened to his son, so he’s around here somewhere,” Justin replied, shrugging his shoulders.

If I Ain’t Got You – Chapter 14

Chapter 14 — Down Memory Lane

Dec 31, 2002 – Orlando, FL – The Poole-Walden Estates – Kasai’s Bedroom

Kasai’s POV

“I’m not staying up here all the time.  I’m sneaking the hell out of here and I’m going to go have some fun,” I said, pulling my cell phone out and speed-dialing number two.  “It’s the last day of the year and I’m going to have some fun.”

“Hello,” my boy answered his phone.

“Hey, what’re you doing?”  I asked, looking down at my watch.

“I’m in algebra K, you know what I’m doing,” he replied as I hit my head.

“Oh yeah, I totally forgot, you’re still in school before the next break,” I said, rubbing my head.

“Yeah, I heard you got kicked out because of Brad and Dale.  I hope you kicked their asses real good,” he said as I smiled.

“I don’t know about that, but I did what I could,” I replied, scratching my balls.  “Look, I’m headed down to the mall.  You want to meet me there after school in the game room?”

“Yeah, I’ll meet you there,” he replied.

“Cool, I’ll see you then, kisses,” I said, closing the phone as I opened the window, stepping out onto the roof to make my escape from Daddy Mark’s punishment.

Half Hour Later – Downstairs

“So, you never told me about what happened to you three with that Valgina woman,” Mark said, looking over at JT.

“Hold on, let me go check on Nick and Justin,” JT said as he got up from his seat on the sofa and then walked out of the room.

“Just go ahead and tell me,” Mark stated with a frown.  “It seems I’m always the last one to know what goes on with you guys.”

FLASHBACK

“Look Angie, I can’t marry you.  I don’t think you’re the type of person that I want to be with for the rest of my life,” Derrick, the man Angela had been dating for a while spoke.

“What do you mean by that?  What is my so-called type of person, that you can’t fucking marry?”  Angela asked, looking at the man closely.  “What fucking type am I?”

“You’re the sluttish type,” the man stated.  “I can’t see myself being with someone that has slept with as many people as you have.”

“What!”  Angela screamed, smacking the man across the face.  “Excuse me, can you run that shit by me again?”

“You’re a slut,” the man flatly spoke as he shook his head.

“I’m a what!  What gave you the notion that I was a slut?”  Angela asked, folding her arms across her chest as she tapped her foot on the floor.

“Everyone around here knows that you’re a slut.  It’s all over this place.  If you would sleep with that guy you’re always hanging around with, you’ll sleep with anyone else,” the guy stated.

“What in the hell are you talking about?  I’m not a slut and I’ve never slept with John,” Angela stated as she got up in the man’s face.

“So you two were never together?  You never dated him?”  The man asked.

“I went out on a date with him once, but we never slept together,” Angela stated as she sighed.

“I don’t believe that shit at all.  You can’t be with a man and not sleep with him,” the man said as he shook his head and then pointed his finger in her face.  “You fucked him, like you fucked around with everyone else.”

“What the fuck is this?  Where in the hell did all of this damn drama come from?”  Angela asked.

“It came from you,” the man replied, shaking his head again.  “Just ask anyone around here, you’re nothing but a dirty slut.  All the guys are talking about your ass like it was the news.  You’re nothing but a dirty bitch.”

“You bastard!”  Angela screamed, slapping the man across the face again as he grabbed her hand, stopping her from doing it again.

“I might be a bastard, but don’t you ever put your hands on me again,” the man said as he pushed Angela backwards and then walked out of the room.

“Stop!  Come back here!”  Angela screamed out, rushing out of the room behind the man.

“What in the hell do you want Angie?”  The man asked, turning to face Angela once more.

“Why Derrick?  Why are you listening to the words of others and not listening to me or your heart?”  Angela asked.

“Why should I be listening to a slut like you?  I should’ve listened to Valgina Williams when she told me about you in the first place,” the man stated as he shook his head again and then started walking off.

“What!  Valgina Williams told you that I was a slut?”  Angela asked.

“No, she simply told me the type of person that you are,” the man stated as he shook his head.  “Now get the fuck out of my way and stay the fuck away from me.  You’ve ruined my reputation enough already.”

END FLASHBACK

“Well damn, now I see why you guys don’t like the bitch,” Mark said, looking over at Angela as JT walked back into the room.  “What’s wrong baby, you look mad about something.”

“I am mad, Kai’s not up in his room.  Is he down here somewhere?”  JT asked, standing in the doorway just as his legs gave out on him.  “Owwww!”

“JT!”  Mark exclaimed, rushing over to JT and scooping him up in his arms.

“Stop it Mark, I’m okay,” JT said as he shooed Mark away.

“No, you stop acting like a baby.  I’m going to help you up regardless, if you like it or not baby,” Mark said as he picked JT up off the floor and then carried him over to a nearby chair.

“Don’t worry about me, where’s Kasai?”  JT asked as Steve and Angela got up and searched through the house.

“I bet that little brat slipped out,” Mark said as he turned and left the room, heading towards the garage.

“That boy is trying my patience with him,” JT said as he shook his head.  “When I get my hands on that boy… oh he just wait until I get my hands on him.”

“Not before me baby,” Mark said as JT grabbed his crutches as he got up from the chair.  “I’m going to beat his lil ass when I find him.”

“No you’re not Mark, I’ll do it,” Angela said as she walked into the room as she shook her head.  “That boy knows better.  I wonder what was going through that head of his.”

“I don’t know, but this goes way beyond grounding.  He’s in for some major punishing,” JT said as the phone rang.

Mark’s POV

“That better not be the police,” I said, walking over to the phone and answering it.  “Hello.”

“Hi Mark, this is Anna down in the ER, is JT there?”  The woman asked.

“Yeah, what’s wrong?”  I asked as JT joined me by the phone.

“I think you two should get down here to the hospital quickly.  It’s Kasai and there’s a problem,” the woman stated.  “You two need to move it, pronto man.”

“We’re on our way,” I said, hanging up the phone.  “Come on baby, we need to get to the hospital, it’s Kai.”

“What?  What’s wrong with him?  What happened?”  JT asked in a frantic tone.

“I don’t know.  Nurse Anna, down in the ER said he was there,” I told him.

“Oh God, he’s gotten into another fight and someone’s hurt him bad,” JT stated as some tears fell from his eyes.  “We have to get Nick and Justin…”

“You two go on, we’ll handle Justin and Nick,” Steve said as he pushed me and JT towards the door.

“Oh God, my little baby, what’s happened to my baby?”  JT asked, getting into the van.  “Hurry up!”

Sometime Previously – Downtown – An Alley behind the Mall

“This isn’t funny Jared, just leave me the hell alone,” Kasai spoke, moving away from the other boy.

“Come on, you know you want this dick boy.  I’ve seen you watching me for a long time now.  I knew you were one of them fags,” the boy identified as Jared laughed as he rubbed his hand on his crotch.

“Look Jared, I don’t want any trouble, just leave me alone,” Kasai said as he backed away from the other boy, keeping his eyes on him.

“It’s too late for that.  You should’ve kept your eyes to yourself,” Jared stated as he moved quickly, punching Kasai in the face, kicking him on the leg and then punching him in the stomach as he fell backwards to the ground, moving into the fetal position.  “You’re going to suck this cock and enjoy it you fucking faggot!  That’s what boys like you enjoy doing, so do it fag boy!”

“Leave… me… alone man, just let me go,” Kasai said through his tears as one of his eyes started to blacken and swell as he held his stomach.

“I’ll leave you alone, only after you’ve done what I want.  I want you to oink like a fucking pig, you fucking fag boy,” Jared said as another boy walked into the alley.  “Yo Jake, guess what I got?  It’s the fag Kasai.  I told you he was a fucking fag.  You lost the fucking bet, it’s time to pay up!”

“What’s going on man?”  The other boy asked as he walked towards the other two boys.  “Oh man…”

“I’m going to make this lil bitch suck my dick,” Jared stated as he kicked Kasai again and then leaned down, grabbing Kasai by his ear, pulling him up off the ground into a standing position as he pushed him against the wall, hard.  “Suck my dick you fucking faggot!  If you do anything that I don’t like, you’ll fucking regret it!”

“Shit dude, you’re really going to let him suck you off?”  Jake asked, grinning like a Cheshire cat.

“Damn straight I am.  He’s a fag and that’s what fags do,” Jared replied as he unzipped his pants and then pulled his dick out of his boxers.  “Now get down there and suck me off bitch.  You better get me off and make me feel good or I’m going to kick your faggoty ass all over this place.”

“Please—please don’t make me do that.  Just let me go please.  You’ve beat me up already, just let me go.  I promise I won’t tell anyone, just let me go please,” Kasai begged as Jared grabbed him by the throat and then pushed him down to his knees, forcing his mouth open as he slid his dick into his mouth.

“Suck bitch!”  Jared snapped, still holding Kasai by the throat.

“Oh shit, that looks so hot,” Jake said as he rubbed his crutch, watching Jared and Kasai.

“Hell, pull your cock out man and we can use this bitch up,” Jared said, waving the other boy over.

“I—I don’t know man.  It looks like you’ve roughed him up enough already,” Jake said as he shook his head.

“He’s a damn fag man.  He deserves this kind of thing,” Jared stated as he grabbed Jake by his pant leg and pulled him closer.  “Just unzip and when I’m done, you can have your turn in him.”

“I—I don’t think…” Jake said as he looked around quickly.

“Tell you what, you can have your turn in his mouth right now, I’m going to try something else,” Jared said as he let his pants slid down his legs, bunching up around his ankles.  “You can have his mouth; I’m going to try his ass out.  You know fags like taking dicks up their asses.”

“I—I guess that’ll work,” Jake replied as he moved closer to Kasai as he unzipped his pants and then slapped Kasai playfully in the face with his dick.  “Open up kid.  You better not bite me or I’ll beat your fucking ass.  You think he roughed you up, I’ll fuck you up fag boy.”

“Just take it; he can’t take both of us on.  We have the upper hand here.  Just go ahead and put your dick in his mouth and enjoy it.  While you’re doing that, I’m about to see just what they get out of doing this shit,” Jared stated as he pushed his finger into Kasai’s ass, making him cry out.

“Damn, looks like he’s in pain man,” Jake said as he looked over Kasai’s body at Jared.

“When we’re done with him, he’ll know what it’s like to have a real man and not one of those wimpy fag boys he’s used to screwing him.  I bet my dick is going to rip you a new one fag boy,” Jared said as he pushed his dick into Kasai, all in one push as Kasai screamed out again, the pain overtaking him as he went limp as the tears streamed down his face.

Jared roughly fucked Kasai, going hard and fast into him from behind as Jake continued pushing his dick in and out of his mouth, causing more pain to him.  As Kasai cried out, he wondered to himself why he had to be the one that this sort of thing happened to.  Only if he had done what Mark told him to and had stayed home in his room, he wouldn’t be going through any of this pain right now.

Sometime Later – Florida Hospital – The Emergency Room

“Anna, Anna!  Where is Kasai?”  JT asked as he and Mark rushed up to the nurses’ station counter.

“He—he’s back here, come on,” Anna replied, rushing down the hall as JT and Mark followed behind her.  “He’s through there.”

“Why are we here Anna, this is the rape unit,” JT said as he looked at the woman strangely as realization of what had happened, hit him like a ton of bricks.  “Oh God, my baby!”

“Calm down baby,” Mark said, holding JT in his arms as they walked into the room to see Kasai, lying in a bed, bandaged up as they both noticed the scraps, cuts and bruises on his body along with the machines connected to him and the tube stuck in the side of his neck.

The Poole-Walden Estates

“Steve, what’s going on?”  Justin asked as he rolled into the room where Steve and Angela sat.

“Nothing’s wrong Justin, why do you ask?”  Steve asked, looking at Justin strangely.

“Didn’t I hear someone tear out of here in a big hurry?”  Justin asked as Nick came into the room behind him.

“JT and Mark left to go back to the hospital,” Angela replied.

“Is there something wrong?  Is everything okay?”  Justin asked with a worried look on his face.

“We’re waiting for one of them to call us and tell us something,” Angela answered as she looked over at Justin.

“So, when do we have to go back to the hospital?”  Justin asked, looking between Steve and Angela.

“Not for a while, unless you two are ready to head back,” Steve answered as Nick moved around in front of Justin.

“No, we’re not ready yet,” Nick spoke with a small smile on his face.  “We’re going back into the other room now.”

“Okay you two, enjoy yourselves,” Angela said as Nick and Justin left the room.  “Those two remind me of you and JT a long time ago.”

“How so Angie?”  Steve asked, looking at Angela strangely.

“Remember when you and he first met, you tripped over him and his wheelchair,” Angela said, laughing as she shook her head.

FLASHBACK

“Thank you Ms. Tandy, I’ll have this book back by the end of the day,” JT said as he placed the book in his backpack and then zipped it up.

“No worries John, you can keep it the rest of the week if you like,” the woman told him.

“Okay, thank you very much,” JT replied with a big smile at the woman.

“You’re very welcome John.  Do you need me to get the door for you darlin’?”  The woman asked.

“No ma’am, I got it,” JT replied, wheeling over to the door and pushing it open as he wheeled out of the library, just as someone tumbled down on top of him.

“Oh my God, I’m so sorry dude,” the young ma said as he got up off the floor.  “I didn’t see you coming.  Are you okay?”

“I’m fine, don’t worry about it.  The question is, are you okay?”  JT asked, looking at the young man closely.

“I’m okay,” the young man replied, watching JT and then fell down again.

“Are you sure you’re okay?”  JT asked, reaching his hand out to help the guy out.

“Yeah, I’m sure you’re okay,” the guy spoke as JT looked at him strangely.

“What’s your name?”  JT asked, still holding his hand out to the guy. “I’m John.”

“Steve, I’m Steve,” the guy replied, fumbling a bit, almost falling down again.

“It’s nice to meet you Steve,” JT stated with a smile.  “Are you sure you’re able to get where you’re going without a problem?”

“Yeah, I’m okay, just a little bit dizzy is all,” Steve replied as he smiled weakly.

“Dizzy, why?”  JT asked, watching the young man.

“You look so cute, oops,” Steve replied as he ran away from JT, heading down the hall quickly.

“Wow, he’s cute and he thinks I’m cute.  This year won’t be so bad after all,” JT said as he starred at the back of the young man as he continued moving down the hall.

END FLASHBACK

“How did you know about that Angie?”  Steve asked, rubbing at his head.

“I hadn’t met you two yet, but I actually saw you guys’ interaction.  I was sitting in the library after he had left,” Angela stated with a soft smile.  “That one event was the chain reaction to all of our lives it seems.”

“So, you knew we were gay and you never said anything, why?”  Steve asked.

“It wasn’t my business,” Angela replied.

Sometime Later – In the Den

“You’ve been so nice to me Justin and Mom’s treated you like trash,” Nick said as he sat in Justin’s lap.  “Are we going to make it?”

“Yes, we’re going to make it Nicky,” Justin replied with a smile.  “We may have some problems right now, but things will come together, I promise you that.”

“Don’t make promises you can’t keep Justin,” Nick said as he looked away from Justin’s face.

“That’s a promise I’m going to do my best to keep, count on it,” Justin said, using his hand to turn Nick’s face to see him as they kissed.

“I love you Justin,” Nick said as the tears streamed down his face.

“I love you too Nicky,” Justin replied as the tears streamed down his face.  “I don’t care what your mother thinks; I’m going to hold on to you as long as I can.  I’m not letting you go.  I just found you.”

“I’m not going to let you let me go.  We just found each other and nothing’s going to break what we have,” Nick said as Steve and Angela walked into the room.

“Sorry guys, but it’s time for us to be getting back to the hospital,” Angela announced, walking over to where Justin and Nick were.  “I know you guys want more time, but believe me, JT and Steve will get you two together again.”

“It’s okay Angela, we’re cool,” Justin said as he and Nick pecked each other on the lips quickly.

“Are we ready to go?”  Steve asked, walking around to them.

“I guess we are,” Nick replied, looking down with a sad look on his face as he got up out of Justin’s lap.

“Perk up partner, this isn’t the last show at the rodeo,” Angela said with a smile, rubbing Nick’s shoulder as he walked past her.  “Stay positive.”

“I’ll try,” Nick said as the four of them headed towards the garage door.

“It’s getting really late in the afternoon,” Steve stated as he looked at his watch.

“Let’s get back,” Angela stated with a frown.  “I wonder what’s happening at the hospital with Mark and JT.  It’s odd that they haven’t called us yet.”

“I don’t know, but I hope everything is okay,” Steve said as he helped Justin outside and into the van.  “Alright Nick, get on in.”

“Let’s get on back to the hospital before something else goes wrong.  We don’t need JT having problems with Larry,” Angela stated as she closed the door.  “Larry’s already on JT’s case because of that damn Danielle and Valgina.”

“The more you say her name, the more it becomes a bad nightmare,” Steve said as he started the van.

Florida Hospital – The Emergency Room’s Rape Trauma Unit

“Is he going to be alright Andy?”  Mark asked, hugging onto JT, trying his best to calm him down.

“I really can’t give you that answer,” Dr. Tripp stated with a frown.  “Whoever did this to him, was meaning to kill him.”

“Oh God!  Why—why couldn’t he have just stayed home like I told him to?”  Mark asked, crying out.  “This… This is all my fault.  If I hadn’t grounded him and made him mad, he wouldn’t have snuck out of the house the way he did.”

“It’s not your fault.  Don’t do this,” JT said, caressing Mark’s face.  “This is one of those things that happen when you least expect them to.”

“Well it did happen and it happened to our little boy,” Mark said as he hugged JT as his cell phone rang.

JT’s POV

“Hello,” I spoke into the phone, trying to hold it up to my ear.

“Where are you guys?”  I heard Angie’s voice.  “Me and Steve are in your office.”

“We’re still down in the ER with Kai,” I replied with a sniffle.

“What happened to him J?”  She asked.

“He—he was raped by someone and then they tried to kill him,” I stated, not able to hold it in any longer as my tears overtook me as I thought about what happened to my little boy.

“Oh God, I’m coming down there,” she said as she hung up the phone.

Almost Half an Hour Later – Dr. Andrew Tripp’s Office

“Do you guys have any clues to who could’ve done this to him Andy?  Did they leave any specimens?”  Angela asked, looking over at Dr. Tripp.

“We collected five semen samples that were found on him and one of those samples belonged to Kasai,” Dr. Tripp stated as he flipped through the report in front of him.

“What the hell!  You’re saying four guys raped him… did—did you tell this to JT and Mark?”  Angela asked.

“No, I didn’t tell them, not yet anyway,” Dr. Tripp replied as he shook his head and then looked down.  “I think I’ll wait until the both of them have calmed down some.  JT’s in pieces as it is.  I don’t know how he would react if Mark wasn’t there with him.”

“That’s his baby.  JT loves him very much, regardless of…” Angela said as the door to the room opened and a woman walked in.

“Good afternoon, I’m here to see Dr. Andrew Tripp,” the woman said, smiling brightly.

“What in God’s name!”  Angela snapped, turning around and locking eyes with Valgina Williams for the first time in a very long time as the woman stood in the doorway, looking back at her.

“I don’t believe it, it’s Angela Sebastian,” the woman snidely said.  “Wow, this must be my lucky day.”

“What in the hell are you doing in here Vagina, I mean Valgina?”  Angela asked, getting up from where she sat.

“I work here,” the woman replied as she looked over her nose at Angela.  “What are you doing here?”

“I work here,” Angela replied in a stern voice.

“Not for long,” the woman said under her breath as she walked past Angela, heading over to Dr. Tripp’s desk.

“So, you ladies know each other?”  Dr. Tripp asked, looking at both women with a scared look on his face.

“Yes,” both women spoke in unison and then looked at each other with angry looks.

“Okay, so what can I do for you, Ms. Williams, is it?”  Dr. Tripp asked.

“I was told that the new head of Therapy Services was you and that I could find you here,” the woman replied.

“I’m not the head of Therapy Services around here.  You would be looking for JT Poole,” Dr. Tripp stated as he looked at the woman strangely, wondering why someone would tell her that he was the head of a department that he didn’t even work in.

“Did you say JT Poole?”  The woman asked, looking at Dr. Tripp strangely.

“Yes,” Dr. Tripp answered.

“So, he took Danielle’s place when she resigned?”  Angela asked.

“Yeah, I guess Larry hasn’t told him yet.  The board met this morning, right before lunch and they went ahead and gave it to him, instead of hiring someone else outside of the company to do it.  I thought he knew that already,” Dr. Tripp stated as Angela shrugged her shoulders and then smiled.

“It seems this is getting better by the minute,” Angela said with a grin on her face.

“So, I have to speak with this JT Poole then?”  The woman asked as Angela nodded her head.

“That’s right Ms. Williams and right now, he’s not in his office.  Is there something I can do for you?”  Dr. Tripp asked.

“Do you know when he’ll be available?”  The woman asked.

“Frankly, I don’t know that answer ma’am,” Dr. Tripp replied with a frown.

“So Valgina, why don’t you just leave here and call back and schedule a time to see him,” Angela said as the smile grew on her face.

“I—I guess I have no choice but to do that then,” the woman stated as she crossed her arms across her chest.

“I’m going to check on things.  I’ll be back later on Andy,” Angela stated as she walked past the woman, heading towards the room door.

“Bitch,” the woman said under her breath as Angela stopped walking.

“Oh no hell you didn’t just call me a bitch!”  Angela snapped, turning around as she looked at the woman.

“Well if the shoe fits…” The woman stated as Angela interrupted her.

“If the shoe fits up your narrow ass, you better hope the people in the ER can get my foot out of your ass if you start some shit that you can’t finish,” Angela stated, pointing her finger in the woman’s face.

“Ladies,” Dr. Tripp said as Angela turned and glared at him.  “Never mind.”

“The same ole Angela,” the woman stated as she shook her head.

“No, you mean the same ole Valgina, always causing problems for other people, wherever she goes,” Angela stated as she returned to the door as Dr. Tripp watched the interaction between the two of them.  “Don’t cross me Valgina, I won’t hesitate to kick your ass from this point on.  We’re not in high school anymore and I’m not going to allow you to do anything to hurt me or anyone I know.”

“That speech is played out and old, just like you are Angela.  Lay that speech on someone that really cares to hear it,” the woman stated as she walked past Angela out of the office.

“Angie, girl you need to calm down before you get yourself into trouble,” Dr. Tripp stated as he rubbed her shoulders.  “She’s new here and…”

“Don’t worry about me Andy, I’m going to be okay.  Someone needs to worry about her, she’s the biggest trouble maker I know,” Angela stated as she sighed and then walked away.

Chapter 3 — Silence of the Heart

A Week Later – Arlington, VA – The Home of John and Roland Donovan – The Backyard

John’s POV

“Did you think it was such a good idea, having a barbecue bro?”  Ramona asked, walking over to where I stood.  “I just told you last week that I saw you guys’ death and here you are, having a barbecue, with everyone in attendance from both your jobs.”

“We’re having this get together for a reason sis,” I said, smiling at her.  “This way, I can read everyone’s soul and see if there’s anything we have to worry about from the people we work with.”

“Clever bro, but I thought you told me once before that you couldn’t read everyone at your job,” Ramona stated, looking around as I frowned.

“That’s where you come in,” I replied, looking at her closely.  “Whatever I can’t see, you possibly can.”

“So, you want me to force visions out of people?”  She asked as I nodded my head.

Hell, if I can’t read their souls, to determine if they’re the cause of our untimely deaths, I would rather she see a vision of what they may possibly do to us in the long run.  Just the thought of us dying, leaving the boys to be raised by strangers has put a bad feeling in my spirit.  Having that bad feeling in my spirit isn’t a good thing right now.  I love those little boys with all of my heart and I’m not about to allow them to go through the same hell that me and Ramona went through as kids.  Had it not been for our gifts and our friends, I don’t know if either one of us would’ve made it this far in life.

“Hey baby, how are things on the grill looking?”  Roland asked as he walked over to where I stood, bringing over a tray of hamburger patties.

“Things are looking great and they smell good too,” I replied, turning a piece of chicken over as he handed me the tray so I could place the burgers on the grill.  “Where are the hot dogs?”

“I’ll bring those out on the next tray,” Roland replied with a smile as he fanned his hand in front of his face, breathing in the aroma of the meat cooking.  “I can’t wait to dig into a piece of that.”

“Hmmm, I say that about you sometimes baby,” I said, smiling as his face went red.  “I love it when you blush like that.”

“Baby, one of the boys could’ve heard you,” he said as I looked around, not seeing any kids near us.

“Oh cut it out, the boys aren’t even in earshot of us, they are off somewhere, playing with the other kids around here,” I said, patting his ass quickly as he looked around, the blush on his face darkening.

“You know I love it, when your face changes shades like that,” I said, turning another piece of the chicken on the grill as I picked up my water bottle and spritzed a few of the chicken pieces and then grabbed the bowl with the sauce.

“Wait baby, I want a piece without the sauce on it,” he spoke quickly as I noticed Gavin James, one of my co-workers, walking towards us as I spotted Ramona, hopping up from her seat quickly.

Okay, what’s going on here?  Is there something I should be concerned with?  Why did Ramona just jump up that way and why does she have that mean look on her face?  Is Gavin a person of interest I should be worried about?  What’s going on?  I’m not hearing her thoughts right now, so what has her on edge like that?

“Ramona,” I spoke as she looked at me and then looked around quickly.  “Ramona, is there something wrong?”

“Bro, something’s not right,” she replied as she looked at me and then turned and looked at Gavin.

“Something’s not right with who?  Is it Gavin?”  I whispered as she looked back at him and then back to me.

“Bro, I think you need to keep your eyes and ears open around him,” she said as she moved backwards as he got closer.  “If I have to, I’ll knock his ass out, before he gets to us.”

“I don’t think that’s necessary,” I replied, wondering what it was that she saw in a vision that has her acting this way right now.  “Roland, why don’t you go check on the boys, I’ll speak with Gavin and if there’s a problem, I’ll mind-call you.”

“Okay baby,” Roland replied, leaning in and brushing his lips across my cheek as he walked in the opposite direction.

“Bro, are you sure about this?”  Ramona asked, looking around again.  “You know I can solve this problem real quick.”

“I’m sure I don’t want you to create an incident that’s going to create a bigger problem,” I said as Gavin stood in front of me.  “Well hi there Gavin, are you having a great time?”

“One of the best,” he replied, looking around nervously as if he was waiting for something to happen.  “Ah John, I—I need to talk with you… I need to talk with you privately for a moment.”

“You need to talk privately about what?”  I asked, looking around, trying to keep my eyes on where Ramona stood and where Roland and the boys were.

“Can we go someplace else?”  He asked as he moved around the grill to get closer to me.

“Ah, I guess,” I replied, putting the fork and spray bottle down as I led him to an empty part of the yard.  “What’s on your mind Gavin?”

“Oscar Saunders,” he replied as he looked at me strangely as I wondered why he brought that fuck-up’s name up.

“What about him?”  I asked.

“John, we’ve known each other for a long time in different circles, but there’s a problem and you need to know what that problem is,” he said as I wondered where he was going with this.

“What about Oscar Saunders?”  I asked.

“You know him, don’t you?”  He said, getting closer to me, his eyes never leaving mine.

“Yeah, I know the fuck-up, why?”  I asked.

“Currently, he’s in danger.  There’s a bounty on his head,” Gavin stated as I wondered what that information had to do with the two of us, talking about him of all people.

“So what, he’s in danger and…” I said, waiting for him to say more about why I was here with him, talking about this.

“You worked with him in the past, right?”  He said as I crossed my arms across my chest, waiting for him to go into more detail about this.

“Gavin, why don’t you get to the part of what this has to do with me.  One, I can care less that Oscar is in danger, that’s something he’s good at doing.  Two, Oscar is…”

“Weren’t you two in a relationship together at one point?”  Gavin asked.

Why in the hell is he asking me something like this?  How could he have possibly known about the short-lived relationship I had with that fucker?  Why is he telling me about there being a hit out on Oscar of all people?

“Gavin stop, what does any of this have to do with things as they are right now?”  I asked.

“The bounty on Oscar’s head is very specific,” he replied as I shook my head.

“Specific how?”  I asked, looking at him closely as I tried to pry into his mind, but something was blocking me from getting the information I wanted to see.

“The contract I heard about, wants him and his family gone,” Gavin stated as he looked at me with a sad expression on his face.

“Okay Gavin, what does that have to do with me?  I’m not part of Oscar’s family,” I stated as he looked down again.

“Apparently, you’ve been out of the ‘know’ for far too long,” he said as he sighed.  “The person, whoever that may be, listed you as one of the people connected to Oscar and you are to disappear too.”

“What!”  I snapped as other people around in various places in the yard, turned and looked at the two of us as he waved his hand, trying to quiet me down.  “Are you fucking serious?  I’m not related to Oscar, I have no connection to that fucking bastard!  How did you find out about this?”

“One of my contacts saw you at the office last week and showed me the information about the bounty,” he answered, looking around quickly as I thought about who his contact could’ve been.  “The person that put the hit out on Oscar, he wants everyone connected to him, gone.”

“Oh God, that could be the cause of everything,” I said, waving my hand at him, using my gifts to freeze him and everything around me in place.

Oh God, how could this be happening?  My life… my family’s lives are in danger because of some damn fool I fucked around with for a weekend!  That damn fool broke my heart and almost caused me to do the unthinkable and now this!  How could this be happening to us?  Why would someone think that I’m connected to Oscar Saunders of all damn people?  I haven’t seen that fucker since that damn night he walked out on me.

Hell, if someone would look at things logically, I should be the one putting a hit out on his damn life.  That fucker tricked and used me!  He left me in a damn hotel in the middle of Peru!  A place where where wars were breaking out all around!  At the time, he was a double agent and I didn’t know he was working for the other side.  I had no idea that he had taken a pay off to get secrets against me and my team.  Had I not used my gifts, we all would’ve perished over in Peru.  Because of me, I let my heart, emotions and lust cause me to let my guard down.  I won’t make that mistake again.

‘Baby, is there something wrong?  Did you happen to freeze time or something?’  I heard Roland’s voice in my mind.

‘I just heard some bad news that I’m not happy with,’  I mentally spoke to Roland, extending my thoughts to him and to Ramona.  ‘I was just informed that there’s a hit out on someone else and that someone else extends to me… possibly to us.’

‘Bro, what are you going to do about this?’  I heard Ramona’s thoughts.

‘I need you yo come over here and see if you can pull a vision from him.  I want to see what his future holds,’ I mentally spoke to her as I waved my hand in Gavin’s direction, using my gift to pull him away from our world into another one, but something wouldn’t allow us to leave.

“Apparently, I am not able to pull him into the other dimension,” I spoke out as Ramona made her way over to where we stood as she grabbed his head as her eyes shimmered an eerie gold color.

“He’s not the cause of what happens Bro, but he has a secret that involves all of us,” Ramona stated as she touched my hand, allowing me to share in the vision she saw.

What in the hell is this?  He’s not the cause of what’s going on, but he’s a big part of things.  He’s not who he claims to be.  He’s not mortal, he’s like us… he’s one of us.

‘What are you talking about babe?’  I heard Roland’s voice.  ‘If he’s like us, then why didn’t you detect that sooner?’

‘If he’s like us, he could be using his gift to hide that.  Maybe someone put a spell on him to keep him from being detected,’ I mentally stated as I looked around, wondering how this guy was able to get close to me all those years ago and I never knew he was like us.

“Bro, something’s happening, he’s unfreezing,” Ramona spoke as she took on a defensive stance as Gavin looked around.

“Trying to pull me into another world isn’t a good thing to do when you have a yard full of guests,” Gavin spoke as he frowned at me.

“What are you talking about Gavin?”  I asked, looking at him closely as I waited for him to tell me more.

“John, I know you aren’t mortal,” Gavin stated as I looked over at Ramona and then back at him.  “I know about you, your sister Ramona and your husband Roland.”

“What is it that you supposedly know?”  I asked as he frowned and then stepped backwards as his eyes shimmered and then he was gone.

“Bro, what the hell just happened here?”  Ramona asked, looking around.  “Did he just slide away?”

“Apparently so,” I replied, frowning as I used my gift to unfreeze the area, making sure that no one would notice the body that was now missing from the yard.  “If he’s like us and he can slide away, that’s a threat all on it’s own.  That means he can be anywhere he wants to be and being that I can’t detect him, that means you guys can’t either.”

“Makes for a bad enemy,” Ramona stated as she sighed and then looked around.  “What are we going to do?”

“I don’t know,” I replied, looking down.  “Maybe we should consult with…”

“Don’t go there Bro,” Ramona stated, shaking her head.  “The last time you tried to talk wit them, they almost trapped your spirit with them.”

“How else are we going to find out who this guy is?”  Ramona asked.

“Don’t know, I’ll find a way,” I said as the smell of something burning grabbed my attention as I rushed back over to the grill to see about the chicken.

Huh, freezing time didn’t actually stop the chicken from cooking.  I guess there’s even things that my gifts can’t control.  I think I better work on that.  I wonder what else went unfrozen when I thought things were frozen.

Somewhere in Sierra Leone, West Africa – An Unknown Village

Gavin James’ POV

Why do I get the feeling that I just made a big mistake, revealing myself to him and his sister that way?  I was trying to help him, but I fear I’ve made things worse than what they really are.  She has the powers of the mind, just like he does, but he’s an ultimate, like I am, I wonder what they were both able to see about me.

Now that I’ve left them the way I did, how am I going to fix what I did?  Damn it, I really need my head examined.  The others are going to really freak the hell out when I tell them what I’ve done.  I shouldn’t have been so quick to blurt out that I knew about him, his sister and his husband.  They probably think they are the only ones in the world like them, but I’m sure by now, they are figuring things out.

As I think back on how things started, I should’ve just stayed on the topic at hand, dealing with Oscar Saunders and not letting it slip that I was like him.  The way he and Ramona looked at me, I knew they had used their powers on me.  But then again, I should’ve just eased him into the conversation and not blurting everything out.

“Where in the hell am I?”  I asked, looking around as I spotted a few things that looked familiar.  “It can’t be… Oh God, I didn’t… I did…”

I guess in my frenzied state of trying to get away from John and his sister, I slid all the way to Sierra Leone, one of the worst war torn places in the world.  I haven’t been here since 1991, when civil war broke out.  Had it not been for Liberia and some secret help from me and the others, this place wouldn’t exist right now.

“Why did I end up here of all places?”  I asked aloud, wondering if there was another factor at play here.  Did I slide here of my own will or did John or his sister send me here?

Looking around again, I didn’t sense anything out of the ordinary and I’m not able to feel any hostile thoughts pertaining to me.  So, if someone else is responsible for me being here, I’m not able to sense their spirit.  I’m just shocked that I ended up here.  Why does this village look like a war has been fought here?  Since the government was overthrown, there shouldn’t be any military of any kind around here.

“You there!”  I heard behind me as I turned around quickly to see a military officer there with his gun pointed at me.

“No thanks man, you can save that for someone else,” I said, gesturing with my hand as he floated into the air and then was slammed into a nearby building.

I’m not going to give him the chance to hurt me or raise any alarms.  I have to get out of here quick, before something else happens.  I just need to concentrate on getting home so I can get the hell away from here.  The sooner I get home, the sooner I can attempt to smooth things over with John, his sister and his husband.

The Home of Oscar Saunders – The Bedroom

Oscar’s POV

I’ve been gone a whole week and it doesn’t seem like things have changed at all.  What am I going to do to solve this problem?  I can’t keep running, looking over my shoulder at every turn.  I have to find the person behind this and convince them to undo what they’ve done.

Now that Anne and her parents are safe someplace else, I can concentrate on trying to solve this problem.  My problem is, who is behind this?  Who do I know, that has the guts to orchestrate something like this?  Who has the pull and the money to put such a bounty on my head and my family?  For anyone to actually act on this hit, they must hate me or there’s tons of money involved.  So who’s the richest person I’ve pissed off?  Who’s the person that I’ve pissed off the most, that would want to take me out just for the hell of it.  Hell, I can think of only two people that fit the bill for wanting me gone, John Donovan and Max Kingsley.

Damn it, I just saw John last week.  Is he the one that’s going to kill me?  Hell, with what I did to him, he has plenty of reasons to hate me enough to kill me.  I left him stranded in the middle of a war-torn village of Peru, where he would surely die, but somehow he didn’t.  I wonder how he was able to get out of that.  I only got out, because I had people smuggle me out of there, but how did he get out?  That’s another mystery that I haven’t been able to solve about him.  I wonder does how he got away from Peru have anything to do with how he was able to slam me into a damn wall without touching me.  How did that fucking shit happen?

I haven’t seen Max Kingsley in a few months, but the last time I saw him, he wasn’t too happy with me.  He’s one of the richest guys I know and for the right amount of money, I’m sure he would take my ass out too, for what I did to him.  Damn, is that what I’m only capable of, just screwing guys over?  Is that the reason for there being a hit out for my life?  All I seem to do is use guys, get what I want out of them and then I leave them alone.  It’s no wonder that I’m alone right now, in this big ass house.

“One day, I’m going to have to work on changing that part of me.  I can’t keep on doing that to guys, especially those that I really like,” I said, sighing as I walked over to the closet and grabbed a few things hanging up.  “Had I not been such a prick to John, maybe I would be married to him right now.  I would have the family life he has right now, a loving husband and kids.  I’ve always dreamt of having that kind of life, but being an agent, really fucked all of that up… well I guess it didn’t fuck that up for John, he seems to have it… or is that a cover he’s playing right now?”

Does John really have that kind of life or is that a damn cover?  Is he really a happy man with a husband and kids?  Or is he currently undercover, trying to take someone down?  Maybe I looked at things all wrong.

Operation Magic – Chapter 2

Chapter 2 — Fool On The Street

Arlington, VA – The Home of John and Roland Donovan

Roland’s POV

We just arrived at the house and both boys are fast asleep in the back seat.  We’re just sitting here in the car, not saying anything.  What’s going on and what happened at the Gala?  Since he encountered Senator McCallister, he’s been quiet and that’s not a good sign.  If there’s something wrong, I would like him to tell me, instead of him acting the way he’s acted for the last few hours.

Since we left the Gala, he’s acted as if I have the plague or something.  Did I do something to him and not know it or what?  Even while we sat eating burgers and fries with the kids, he said nothing.  What could have happened that has him so quiet?  Even now, we’re just sitting here, like there’s this big wall separating us.  What the hell is this?  I am not used to this kind of silence with him.

“Okay, I’ll get Mason,” I said, unsnapping the seat belt as I opened the door and got out of the car.

I walked to the back door, opened it and then prepared to remove the seat belt from Mason as his body shimmered in a gold colored light and then he vanished.  Sighing, looking over at Caleb, the same thing happened to him.  I’ll take it that he transported the children up to bed in their rooms.

“Your doing?”  I spoke, looking across the seat at him as he got out and then closed the door.  “John, what in the hell is going on?”

“I’m sorry,” he replied with a frown on his face as I moved out of the car, closing the door as I walked around to where he stood.

“What happened tonight?  What’s going on?”  I asked.

“I…” He started as I shook my head.

“I don’t want to hear you apologize again, unless you’re going to apologize for the way you’ve been acting this evening,” I stated as I noticed that his eyes were shimmering.  “If you’re trying to hex me, I suggest you don’t do it.”

“I’m not trying to hex you Roland,” he replied as he sighed.  “I—I don’t know how to tell you what happened earlier this evening.”

“Why can’t you tell me?  Whatever it is, I think it has something to do with that strange Senator McCallister.”

“No, it had nothing to do wth the senator,” he replied with a frown.  “The senator is the least of my worries.”

“Well, if it wasn’t the senator, then what was it?”  I asked.

“Oscar Saunders,” he replied as I looked at him, wondering who he was talking about.  “Oscar Saunders, the guy that stranded me in…”

“Are you talking about the guy that almost made you sacrifice your soul?”  I asked as he sighed and then nodded his head.  “We’re talking about the guy that almost shattered your heart!”

“Yeah,” he replied, looking down as I turned away from him, wondering how all of this could’ve started.  “He was at the Gala, he bumped into me in the bathroom and I…”

“You saw him, you shut your spirit off from me and then you turned into Mr. Silence,” I said as I felt him standing behind me.  “I don’t like the silence…”

“I’m sorry, I didn’t want to hurt you in any way,” he responded as I felt his hands move around my waist.  “I didn’t want you experiencing the feelings of…”

“I’m hurt because you didn’t just come out and tell me sooner, instead of waiting this long,” I said, sighing.  “You were a total wreck because of him and I don’t want that happening again, especially now.  Your life is different now.  We are different now.”

“I know we’re different now baby,” he said, kissing my neck as I leaned against his body.

“We don’t need anything compromising what we have now,” I said as I could faintly hear his thoughts again.  “We have a family now, a new life.  It’s not like it used to be when you were running across the realms, trying to defend your bloodline.”

“Babe, those days are over, there is someone else to defend the bloodline,” he said as we rocked back and forth, to the melody that he hummed in his mind.  “I’m sure Arik has a great time fighting demons and evil in my place.”

“I’m sure he does, but at some point, it will be your responsibility again,” I said, remembering a quote from his uncle, stating that he was the only one with the power to save his family and keep them on the right path.

“Right now, Arik is at the height of his powers and I’ve taught him everything he needs to know to keep the family protected,” he said as everything around us went black and then we were in our bedroom.  “Let’s can all of this magic talk and get some sleep.  The boys have a busy day ahead of them tomorrow.”

“Yes they do and they are so psyched about it,” I said as I touched his chest, using a spell to get rid of his clothing as he smiled as we both moved over to the bed.

“For a guy that doesn’t like relying on his gifts, you tend to do so a whole lot,” he said, kissing my mouth as we both got into bed.

“Well I have it, there’s no point in letting it go to waste,” I said, pulling the comforter over us as I moved closer to him.

“Good night baby, I love you,” he said as he kissed my ear and then draped his arm across me.

“I love you too baby,” I replied, able to see what had him so upset from earlier.

The Home of Cadet Skip Bridges – The Bedroom

Skip’s POV

Damn it, it’s almost three in the morning and I’m beyond tired.  What the hell was Abrams’ problem anyway?  He acted as if he wasn’t going to allow me or any of the others to leave at all.  What was the point of him holding us there longer when he had already been debriefed about the night’s events.  If I didn’t know any better, I’d think he was trying to find out something, but what?

What could he have been trying to find out?  Nothing actually happened to the President or any of the important guests in attendance.  The only thing that made a buzz was the thing that happened with the black guy in the bathroom.  Then again, Abrams is an asshole and he might’ve been in one of those assholery moods.

One of these days Abrams is going to get what’s coming to him.  I think the mofo was just looking for a reason to bust my balls, being that I ratted his ass out for what he was caught doing in a broom closet with a party guest last month.  He’ll know to suck dick on his own time and not while he’s supposed to be patrolling.

Then again, I think there is something to what went on with that black guy that was in the bathroom tonight.  I think I need to keep my eyes on him.  What I saw tonight could be what others are looking for and he might be my key to getting what I want in the long run.  I don’t want to be the lowest man on the totem pole forever.

Meridian Hospital – The Emergency Room

Senator McCallister sat in the emergency room’s waiting area for almost an hour before a nurse called him back to triage.  As he walked through the doors with the nurse, he coughed a bit, spitting up blood as the nurse jumped backwards, doing her best to avoid the blood splatter.  Grabbing a pair of gloves from the box on the wall, the nurse assisted the senator through a set of double doors and into an exam room as she pressed a button, signaling others that there was an emergency.

“What’s going on Mary?”  Another nurse asked, rushing from behind the nurses’ station.

“Call a code!  There’s something drastically wrong, he’s coughing up blood everywhere!”  The nurse screamed, trying to position the senator on the exam table as he continued coughing up blood.  “Sir, can you tell me what happened before you arrived here?”

“I don’t know,” Senator McCallister replied, coughing more as he held his chest as the nurse grabbed a mask from a drawer next to the exam table and covered her face.

“When did this start sir?”  The nurse asked, grabbing some other things from the drawer to assist with getting him cleaned up a bit as another nurse and a doctor rushed into the room.

“A few days ago,” Senator McCallister replied as his eyes closed and his head fell backwards on the table.

“He’s out!”  The nurse screamed as the doctor grabbed a pear of scissors and started cutting his shirt open.

“Jean, get Doctor Rayne up here fast, we’re going to need his expertise for this,” the doctor stated as he got up on the table, doing chest compression on the senator.  “I need a mouth guard Mary.”

“Here!”  The first nurse stated, handing the doctor the device he requested.  “I’m not getting a pulse from him!”

The nurse and doctor worked with the senator for a few minutes, getting his breathing restarted again as he opened his eyes and started coughing again.  The other nurse returning to the room, the first nurse grabbed a small device and an alcohol pad as she smacked the top of his hand, trying to find a vein to start an I-V port.

“I don’t think I’m going to be able to start a port on him, he’s veins are rolling too much,” the first nurse stated as as she rolled the senator’s sleeve up his arm, trying to find a vein there for the I-V port.

“Did someone call the damn code?”  The doctor asked, climbing down from the table as the second nurse assisted him with checking the senator’s eyes.  “His eyes aren’t showing a damn response to the light!”

“What in the hell could be going on with this man?”  The first nurse asked as the senator screamed out as the lights in the room went out, leaving them in the dark.

“What the hell was that?”  The doctor asked as an alarm sounded.  “Is the damn power out?”

“What in the hell is going on around this place?”  The second nurse asked as the lights started flashing on and off.  “This is some damn freaky shit!”

“We have to keep working with this man!”  The doctor yelled, holding his penlight up, looking in the direction of one of the nurses.  “Are the phones working?”

“Phone’s working!”  Another person replied, entering the room.

= Everyone please be calm, there was a temporary power failure.  The power has been restored and all systems are restarting. =

“I wonder what caused the power failure,” one of the nurses spoke, still working with the senator.

“Let’s not worry about that right now,” the doctor spoke, looking in the senator’s mouth.  “We need to get this man to radiology, we need to find out if there’s some internal bleeding.”

“Okay doctor,” the second nurse stated as she walked over to the wall and picked up the phone there.

The Home of Oscar Saunders – The Bedroom

Oscar’s POV

Damn it, what am I going to do?  It’s almost light out and I have yet to go to sleep.  I need to get some rest, but I’m scared that if I fall asleep, someone will break in and there won’t be anymore me.  I know the alarm is set and all, but with some of the people I’ve worked with in the past and some of the fools I’ve taken down in the past, I’m sure they can bypass my security system here.

Damn it, how in the hell did that fucker find me anyway?  I’ve been here for the last year and my past hasn’t come back to haunt me until now.  I thought changing my hair and eye color would’ve kept my past just that the past, but I guess that was just my wishful thinking.  It seems that fucker was able to recognize me, even with a case of damn memory loss.

Something’s not adding up.  That fucker was blown up and now he’s back and it seems he knows me.  The last I saw him, he was in a damn hospital in Kuwait, with no memory of who he damn was and all of his damn organs were failing.  How in the hell did he survive that?  I’ve changed a whole lot since I last saw him.  I was just out of the SEALS when we met.  He shouldn’t recognize me this way, but he did.  Is there something else going on that I’m not getting?  Whatever treatment he got in Kuwait, was one helluva treatment.

“I can’t stay awake forever, regardless of how much coffee I drink,” I said, walking around the kitchen as I contemplated my current plight.  “No amount of coffee is going to save me right now and get that bounty off of my head.”

Sighing, I took another sip of my coffee and then placed the mug on the night table. Looking at the clock, it read ‘5:27 AM’ as thoughts of Anne and her family flashed through my mind.  They are in danger, al because of me.  Had I not involved myself into her life, there wouldn’t be possible danger for her and her folks.

“I’ll have to get her and her parents underground quickly and get them under different names,” I said aloud as I sighed again.  “I have to get them set up somewhere else, to keep them out of danger.  But who can I get to help me?”

I don’t have any good damn contacts right now.  All the people that I currently know, hate the fuck out of me.  I guess that’s my fault for being a damn user.  Had it not been for the way I’ve treated people in the past, there probably wouldn’t be a damn bounty on me now.  I wonder who the person is that has the hit out for me.  If I find that person and make try to make amends, would that stop the hit?

“Who could it be?  He didn’t tell me who put the hit out on me,” I said, sighing again as I rolled over in the bed as I could see the sky lightening up as day approached.  “There are tons of people in the world that hate me.”

That’s just it, tons of people hate me.  Hell, even JT hates me and I bumped into him earlier tonight.  Is it possible that he put the hit out on me?  I didn’t know anything about the damn hit, until after I bumped into him in the damn bathroom.  And what in the hell was that, that happened in the bathroom while he was with me?  How did I get slammed into the damn wall that way?  That was the oddest damn thing ever.

“I can’t keep thinking about all of this, I need to get some rest,” I said aloud as I sighed again, pulling the covers up a bit as I looked over at the fireplace, thinking about the last time I spent with JT, when we were in Peru.

Alexandra, VA – Great Waves Waterpark – The Entrance

“Hello guys,” John heard as he turned around to see a familiar face standing there with bags in her arms.  “You just going to stand there or what?”

“Hey sis,” John spoke with a smile.

“Aunt Ramona,” Caleb, John and Roland’s youngest son spoke up as he rushed over to the woman, wrapping his arms around her, hugging her tight.  “I’m so glad to see you Auntie.”

“I’m so glad to see you too Puddin’,” the woman spoke as she rubbed the little boy’s back as she kissed his cheek and then released him.  “Where’s your big brother at?”

“He and Papa went to the bathroom,” Caleb replied as he looked up at John and then back at the woman.  “What are you doing here Aunt Ramona?”

“Your Dads told me that you guys were going to be here today, so I came by to hang out with you guys,” the woman spoke as John looked over at her strangely as his eyes shimmered a bit.

‘Ramona, is there something wrong?’  John mentally spoke, looking at the woman closely.  ‘Why are you here?’

‘I’m here because I had a vision and foresaw that you four were in trouble, so here I am,’ the woman mentally replied as John looked around quickly and then sighed.

“Sonny boy, do you have to go to the bathroom too?”  John asked, looking at the little boy.  “You might need to go right now.  We might not be able to find one near us when we start getting on some of the rides.”

“Okay Daddy,” Caleb spoke, walking away from John and the woman.

“What did you actually see?”  John asked, looking at the woman.

“I actually saw both of you die,” the woman stated with a frown.  “You were both lying on the ground and the boys were kneeling over you two, crying because you were dead.”

“You didn’t see anything that led up to that?”  John asked, reaching out to touch the woman as she took his hand.

“Sugah, the only thing that I was able to see was the end, nothing more than that,” the woman stated, sighing as she looked around.  “Has something happened with you guys?  Could this possibly have something to do with Arik?”

“I—I don’t know, you had the vision,” John replied with a frown.  “Nothing’s happened with us, not that I now of.”

“Has there been any changes with you guys since you last saw Arik?”  She asked, looking at John closely as she looked over his shoulder to see Roland and the two children.  “Look alive, the kids are coming back.”

“Arik, he’s currently looking for the Scepter of Euripides,” John spoke as Caleb walked up and took his hand.  “When he finds what he’s looking for, he’ll let me know.”

“Hi Ramona,” Roland spoke, leaning in and hugging the woman.  “Glad you could make it.”

“Glad I could make it too,” the woman spoke with a weak smile as he looked at John, noticing that his eyes were shimmering.  “Why don’t we go ahead and get inside to get on some rides.”

“I’m ready,” Mason spoke, dancing around in place as the woman laughed as she patted his back.

“Come on, let’s get inside,” John stated as he looked around again as they walked through the gates, handing the gate attendee their passes.

A Few Hours Later – The Food Court

Roland’s POV

It’s almost lunch time and I’m tired out.  Dang, those little boys are way too full of energy.  Either I’m getting old or maybe I didn’t get enough sleep last night.  Being that it was well after one when we got into bed, that could be the reason why I’m so tired right now.

“Are you okay Roland?”  Ramona asked, watching me closely.

“I’m fine girl, just a bit tired,” I replied as she smiled weakly and then looked around.  “I heard what you had to say to him.  Is there some way you could get another glimpse of that future?”

“I don’t want to get another glimpse of that future,” she said, sighing as she looked down at the table.

“What were you doing when you had that vision?”  I asked, looking around, making sure no one was within earshot of us.  “Were you touching something when that happened?”

“I was sitting at work, minding my business when that happened,” she replied.  “It seems like it just popped into my mind all of a sudden.”

“It just popped into your mind?  I—I thought you had to be touching something or someone to actually get a vision,” I said as she shook her head.

“No, my gift has improved a bit,” she spoke, picking up a plastic straw from the ground as she closed her eyes and then sighed.  “This belonged to a little black kid that had been raped by his uncle and said uncle has killed a few people and is currently awaiting trial.”

“That’s just morbid,” I said as she frowned.

“I know, but there’s nothing I can do about that,” she said, shaking her head.  “There’s nothing I can do about who touches the items I pick up.”

“I pray that little boy gets some counseling for what’s happened to him,” I said as she looked down.

“I doubt he will,” she said, looking up as I noticed that someone from my job was standing across from us, watching us.

What the hell, is that Nick from my job?  If so, what in the hell is he doing around here of all places?  This goes way beyond stalking, if that’s him.  Getting up from the table, I walked towards the guy until I was sure it was Nick from my job.  Sighing, I wondered what he was actually doing here.  Is he here to spy on me or is he actually here for another reason?

“Well hello there,” I spoke, extending my hand to Nick as he stood there with a creepy smile on his face, shaking my hand.  “I didn’t expect to see you here.”

“Hi Roland, what a surprise,” he spoke, releasing my hand as he looked around.  “I’m here with my niece and one of her friends.  I’m on babysitting duty this weekend.”

“Oh yeah, we brought the boys here today,” I said as he looked at me strangely.  “Me and my husband.”

“Your husband?  I—I didn’t know you were married,” he spoke, the expression on his face speaking volumes.  “I—I guess congratulations are in order or something.”

“I’ve been married for about five years now,” I spoke as he looked down.

Damn, I guess I just ruined his day with the way he’s looking.   How could he not know I’m a married man.  There are pictures of John and the boys on my desk for crying out loud.  Most of the people in the office know that fact about me.  I know he’s new and all, but I’m sure the others would’ve filled him in by now.  He’s been there for over three months, that’s enough time for him to find out things.

“Five years, that’s a very long time,” he spoke, looking around as if he were looking for someone.

“Yeah, a long time,” I said with a smile.  “We have two little boys that are our world.”

“That—that’s cool,” he replied, placing his hands in his pockets as he got this uncomfortable look on his face.

Something’s telling me that I’ve just crushed him.  How could he not know this information about me?  Since he’s been employed at the office, he’s been making little excuses to hang around me.  I guess I don’t have to worry about that anymore, being that I just dropped my life on him.  Being that my husband just walked up to us, I’m sure things are about to get more surreal for him.

“Hi, I’m John,” I heard John say as I turned to look at him as he reached out and shook Nick’s hand.

“Baby, this is Nick… Nick Starling,” I said as he smiled weakly and then looked at me.  “He’s one of the new financial analyst for the company.”

“Hi,” Nick replied as he looked nervously at me and then back at John.  “So, what do you do?”

“I’m a therapist,” John replied, looking at Nick quickly and then turning his attention back to me.  “Babe, we’re going to go ahead and order.  What do you want?”

“I’ll have a corn dog and some fries,” I answered, looking at Nick as I could see the sadness in his eyes.  “Also, get me a pretzel with hot mustard.”

“Okay,” he said, leaning in and kissing my cheek as he started to walk away.  “It was nice meeting you Nick.”

“Yeah, it was nice meeting you too,” he called out with a wave as he smiled weakly.  “I’m going to catch up with the girls and I’ll see you at work on Monday.  Have a great day out with your family.”

“You too,” I said, waving as I turned to walk back to where my family was.

Operation Magic – Chapter 1

Chapter 1 — Classless

Washington, D.C. — The White House — A Private Research Room

“Summers, have you found the connection we’re looking for?” A research scientist asked, walking into the room with a clipboard in hand.

“No sir,” a military cadet spoke, saluting the man. “I think we would need a live specimen to actually figure out the connection.”

“Right now, a live specimen isn’t available, you have to test what we have,” the research scientist spoke as he wrote some things down on a piece of paper on his clipboard. “What have you discovered so far, if anything?”

“I’ve discovered that all the tissue is dead and it’s decaying at a very fast rate,” the cadet replied as he walked over to a table, lifted a tarp and then pointed with his finger. “Sir, if you look at this, you could actually see the decay for yourself.”

“I don’t want to see the decay, I want to see results,” the research scientist spoke, slinging the clipboard across the room, barely missing the cadet. “I want results and I want them quickly.

“Yes sir,” the cadet spoke, rushing to get back to his task.

An Hour Later — Across Town — The Zeta Event (A Gala) — The Presidential Ballroom

“Good evening Senator,” a tall white man spoke, walking towards another white man. “It’s nice that you could make it out this evening. I’ve heard that you were under the weather recently.”

“I’m feeling just fine,” the man replied, looking at the other man strangely. “Where did you hear such a tale?”

“I… Ah… Well, I thought…” the second man spoke as the other man held up a hand, stopping him from speaking.

“My health is none of your concern and you keep it that way,” the man spoke, walking away from the other man as others standing around, watched what transpired and started whispering.

“Did you hear how Senator McCallister spoke to General Mason?” A woman asked, speaking with her escort as she placed her wine glass down on a table and then walked over to a set of people. “I’m shocked at how Senator McCallister just spoke to General Mason. The man was only showing concern, he didn’t need to be so crass and…”

“Anna, let it go, you know those two have history together,” another person spoke, kissing her cheek and then leading her away from the crowd of people. “Anna, why do you constantly put your nose in the affairs of other people?”

“How dare you speak to me that way Oscar,” the woman identified as Anna spoke. “I don’t have to take that kind of talk from you. I say and do what I want to. We’re no longer married, meaning you have no say-so of what I do. Do you understand that Mr. Saunders? When the judge banged that gavel, that was the end of you controlling me.”

“I’m not trying to control you Anna, I’m just trying to keep you safe. We may not be married anymore, but I don’t want to see you hurt,” the man identified as Oscar Saunders spoke, still walking along as he looked around quickly to see if anyone was following them.

v“Take your hands off of me Oscar,” Anna spoke, snatching away from Oscar as she turned around. “Why do you even care anyway?”

“Leave Senator McCallister alone and mind your business,” Oscar stated with a frown.

“Fine,” Anna stated, running a hand through her hair as she sighed.

“What is this Oscar, why are you even here? Press isn’t allowed at this function.”

“I was invited by someone,” Oscar answered as Anna raised an eye at him. “That’s none of your concern of who invited me either, remember we’re not married anymore.”

“Is it a he or a she?” Anna asked as Oscar glared at her, pointed his finger in her face and then walked off. “I guess it is a he that invited you.”

“Screw you Anna,” Oscar said, walking back towards the ballroom.

“The few times you did,” Anna spoke, displaying the middle finger as she turned and walked in the opposite direction, heading towards the exit doors.

An Hour Later — A Restricted Area of the White House

“Sir, we’ve found the specimen you requested,” a cadet spoke, walking into the area, holding a digital device in hand. “The readings we picked up, match the specimen. He’s the one that was detected by the new equipment.”

“Is the specimen able to be captured?” A man in the room asked, smiling evilly. “Where is the specimen right now?”

“The specimen is here in the building sir, he’s present at the Gala,” the cadet spoke, looking at the device in his hand. “He’s there with three others and they all have the same readings.”

“There are three of them? Do they all possess a powerful aura?” The man asked.

“We believe so sir,” the cadet replied, passing the device over to the man. “See for yourself. You’ll notice that the black one has the strongest aura, whereas the other two are strong, but not as strong as his. Maybe he’s the superior one.”

“Dispatch a team, I want them, I want them tonight,” the man stated as the cadet saluted and then exited the room.

Back in the Presidential Ballroom

“So, are you enjoying yourself Mr. Donovan?” Senator McCallister asked, shaking hands with a tall black man in the presence of another man and two small children. “Is this the family I’ve heard so much about?”

“Yes sir, this little guy is Mason and this little guy here is Caleb,” the tall black man replied, placing his hands on the shoulders of the last child. “These two little guys are my life.”

“I bet they are,” Senator McCallister replied as he coughed, turning away from the man and the children quickly as he doubled over, almost falling to the ground as the black man rushed around to possibly assist him.

“Senator, are you okay?” The black man asked, looking at Senator McCallister closely.

“I—I’m fine,” Senator McCallister replied, coughing again as some blood flew from his mouth, landing on the black man’s suit, staining his satin shirt. “God Damn It!!!! I—I’m sorry, I—I didn’t mean to do that. I’ll replace this for you, just send the bill to…”

“It’s okay Senator, don’t worry about it. Why don’t we get you somewhere else,” the black man said, assisting the senator away from the others as he gestured with his head at the man that was with him and the children.

“You don’t understand, you need to get away from me, NOW!” Senator McCallister exclaimed, pushing the black man away from him, causing him to fall backwards to the floor. “I—I’m sorry, I didn’t mean…”

“Sir, are you alright? Is everything okay here?” A military cadet asked, walking over to Senator McCallister and saluting him.

“I am fine,” Senator McCallister replied as the black man got up off the floor, watching the senator and the cadet as he stepped to the side, giving the two men some space. “Leave me be, both of you, damn it.”

“Okay Senator,” the black man said as he walked past the senator and the cadet, heading down the hall towards a men’s room.

“Senator McCallister, why don’t you come with me,” the cadet spoke, grabbing the senator by the arm. “It would be in your best interest to come with me.”

“I will do no such thing boy, get your hands off of me,” Senator McCallister spoke, snatching his arm away from the cadet.

“Come now Senator, you don’t want to make another scene here,” the cadet spoke, patting the firearm in the holster on his side. “Too many people have seen too much of your antics for one evening.”

“Who in the hell do you think you are boy?” Senator McCallister asked.

“Right now, I may be your only savior,” the cadet replied, smiling evilly as he patted the firearm in the holster again.

“What is it that you want?” Senator McCallister asked.

“I wasn’t you to come with me,” the cadet replied, motioning with his head, directing the senator to walk forward.

Down in the Men’s Room

John Donovan’s POV

What in the hell was that back there with the senator? He actually coughed up blood and it landed on me. Is there something medically wrong with him or was he just attacked? I did sense some tenseness in the way he talked with me and Roland. I first thought it had something to do with him not liking the fact that we’re gay, but now, maybe there’s something else going on. Was his tenseness a result of something else that’s going on with him? I guess it’s my goal to find out what happened with him before I encountered him.

Gesturing at the mirror with my hand, I saw my eyes glowing in the mirror’s reflection as I used my telekinesis to grab the blood particles in my shirt, separating the blood from the fabric as the blood floated freely in front of me. I need to get this somewhere to have it analyzed and…

“Yeah man, I’m at the White House, covering some damn gala about some important person’s birthday,” I heard someone say as the door opened as I turned on the water quickly, allowing the blood to fall into the sink, being washed away. Damn it!

Sighing, I looked up to see a man I knew. What in the hell is he doing here? I haven’t seen him in years. Is that really him? Is he really here or am I being tested by Fate again?

“Hey, I gotta go, I’ll catch you later,” I heard, turning around to face the man. “It’s you.”

“Hello Oscar,” I spoke as he put the phone into his pocket. “Long time, no see.”

“Yeah, it’s been a really long time,” he replied, stepping closer as he extended his hand to me. “How you been buddy.”

“You want to know how I’ve been? Where do I need to start?” I asked as he sighed and then looked down.

“I—I’m sorry,” he spoke, shaking his head.

“You left me stranded in Peru,” I spoke, wondering how he was going to react to that information.

“I didn’t mean to leave you there,” he replied, moving past me as he headed over to the urinals, standing in front of one as he unzipped and started handling his business.

“But you did none-the-less and I missed my contact,” I spoke as he sighed again, tucked himself back in, zipped up and then flushed the toilet as he moved over to the sink, standing right next to me as he turned on the water, washing his hands.

Damn it, what in the hell is wrong with this picture? Is he trying to damn flirt with me here, now? He’s standing next to me and I can feel the heat off his skin. I don’t have to use my empathy to feel that he’s after something, but what is he after? He’s done washing his hands, but he’s still standing next to me, looking me in the face, looking so damn cute. Damn it, I want to push him up against the damn wall and have my way with him. I can’t do that, I have a partner and we have a family.

“I wasn’t trying to make you miss your contact,” he spoke, brushing past me as he grabbed a paper towel from the dispenser, drying his hands as he turned slowly, looking at me, that same look that hooked me to him that night we were in Peru together. “I just wanted to see you again is all.”

“You saw me and got what you wanted and then you left me,” I spoke, remembering the used and abused feelings I had, waking up the next morning and he was nowhere to be found.

“I didn’t get what I want,” he said, throwing the paper into the trash can, his eyes seeming to burn a hole into my soul. “Had I got what I wanted, I would still have it.”

“I—I have to go,” I said, turning away from him quickly as I started to leave the room, trying to get back to Roland and the kids, mainly to clear my mind of the thoughts and feelings that were trying to creep into my heart, which wouldn’t be good for anyone if that happens.

“Wait, don’t leave so fast, I would like to make it up to you, if I can,” he said as I shook my head.

“You can’t make that up to me,” I said as he walked closer to where I stood as he reached out to touch me as I instinctively reacted and my telekinesis moved him backwards from me as he hit the wall and then looked around with a shocked and scared expression on his face.

“What the hell just happened?” He asked as the door opened as another man walked into the bathroom as I rushed out to return to Roland and the kids.

A Private Sector of the White House – A Secret Command Room

“Sir, did you see that?” A military cadet asked, watching a view screen of what had previously happened with John Donovan and Oscar Saunders in a men’s room. “That black man pushed the other man against the wall without touching him.”

“That’s not possible, you must’ve imagined that,” another cadet spoke, getting up from his seat to walk over to the other cadet. “We don’t have time for games tonight Bridges.”

“It’s not a game Phillips,” the first cadet spoke as he pressed some keys on his computer keyboard as the images on the view screen started to rewind and then play again. “See, the white guy is slammed into the wall.”

“There’s no proof of that happening man. He could’ve been off balance or something,” the cadet identified as Phillips spoke as he pressed some keys on the keyboard, enlarging the images on the screen.

“I don’t care what you say, I’m going to go ahead and report that to the superiors. You may not see that as strange, but I do,” the cadet identified as Bridges spoke as he pressed more keys on his keyboard as a box appeared on the screen as he used his finger to trace information on the screen and then he gestured with is fingers as the box disappeared. “I’ve escalated that up, so others can see it and make a decision on it.”

“I think you’re wasting a few people’s time on that man,” Phillips said as he shook his head and then walked over to his terminal, returning to his seat.

“You may think that, but small thinking is why you’re still here in this little room,” Bridges stated as he shook his head. “I’m not looking to spend my career on monitor duty for the rest of my life.”

“What you trying to say man, you think you’re better than me or something?” Phillips asked, standing back up from his terminal. “You’re no better than the next man that’ll take that damn seat, even if you’re not here. Acting that way isn’t going to score you any points around here.”

“I guess we’ll have to see, now won’t we,” Bridges spoke as he pressed more keys on the keyboard as Phillips shook his head and returned to his seat.

The Presidential Ballroom

“Hi babe, is everything okay?” Roland Donovan asked as John Donovan approached him and the two small children with him.

“We need to go,” John replied as he looked around quickly.

“Is there something wrong? Why do we need to go?” Roland asked, looking around quickly as if there was something wrong.

“I—I’m not feeling well, I think we need to go,” John answered as he looked down, trying to avoid Roland’s eyes. “Let’s just say our goodbyes and call it a night.”

“I—okay babe,” Roland relented as he smiled weakly and then looked down at the two small children.

“Boys, did you have a good time?” John asked, looking at both of the children.

“It was kind of boring Daddy,” one of the boys said as John smiled weakly as he took the boy’s hand. “I’m sure we’ll have a better time when we go to the Park tomorrow.”

“Yes, we’re going to the park in the morning,” John replied, looking around again, not noticing the sad expression on Roland’s face. “I’m sure you little guys will have a better time there.”

“Yes, I’m sure we will,” Roland spoke, taking the other boy’s hand as the four of them walked towards the doors, waving as they went.

Roland’s POV

What in the world is going on? What happened when he disappeared with the senator? Did the senator do something to him? Why is he in such of a hurry to leave here? I’ve been trying to reach out to his mind to talk with him, but he’s somehow blocking me. Why is he blocking me all of a sudden? We’ve always been able to share what’s going on with each other and now he’s blocking me from his mind, why? What could have happened when he disappeared with the senator?

“Papa, I’m still hungry,” I left my thoughts to hear Mason say as he looked up at me. “Are we going to get something?”

“I don’t know buddy, I guess we can stop some place on the way home,” I replied, looking over at John, still not able to reach out to him. “How about you Caleb, are you still hungry?”

“A little bit Papa, but not much,” Caleb replied as he smiled up at me. “Can we get pizza?”

“I think it’s a bit late for pizza, I don’t think you need to go to bed with such a big meal on your stomach kiddo,” I said, looking over at John as he continued walking down the corridor as we got outside as he walked over to the valet to get our car. “John, what do you think we should be getting? Are you hungry?”

“Ah, no—no, I am not hungry, I am fine,” he replied as he looked down quickly as he fished his wallet out of his pocket and then took some money out as he handed it to the driver that came back with our car. “Thanks buddy, alright kids, load up.”

“Okay Daddy,” Mason spoke, hopping into the backseat as John held the door open as Caleb followed behind him.

“John, what in the world is going on?” I asked, looking at him as he frowned and then opened the driver side door, getting into the car.

What in the hell is going on? Did he just act as if I didn’t ask him anything? Why did he just ignore me and get into the car? Whatever the hell’s going on, it must be big, since he’s not paying much attention to anything I have to say and he’s blocking me from sharing his spirit. He better have a good explanation for this.

An Hour Later – A Nearby Park

“Hey there,” Oscar Saunders heard behind him as he turned around to see a man standing there. “What are you doing back in town?”

“I live here. What are you doing back here?” Oscar heard as he stepped closer to the man. “I haven’t seen you since the shit that went down in Afghanistan.”

“Which shit are you referring to?” The man asked as Oscar shook his head.

“It doesn’t really matter guy. What is it that you want?” Oscar asked, looking around quickly. “Why did you summon me here?”

“Is that really what you want to know?” The man asked as Oscar shook his head again and then looked around again.

“Come on man, what is it that you want? I have better things to do with my time, than be out here in the cold with you. What is it that you want?” Oscar asked.

“The short and sweet version is, there’s a hit out for you, your family and a few of your friends,” the man stated as Oscar’s eyes widened as he looked around again.

“Man, I don’t have time for this shit,” Oscar stated as the guy smiled and then handed him a file folder. “What’s this?”

“Let’s just say someone has already started gathering intel on you,” the man said with a sly smile as he turned around. “Someone knows you’re alive and they want you and a few of your close friends taken care of. Next time, maybe you should keep your pants on, instead of leaving them under the bed in a cheap ass hotel in the middle of nowhere.”

“Fuck…” Oscar said as he looked around, but the man was nowhere to be found. “Where in the hell did he go? He was just here…. I don’t have time for this. If what he says is true, I need to get as far away from here as I can.”

Walking quickly through the park, looking in multiple directions around his body, Oscar pulled out his cell phone and dialed a number. Waiting for someone to answer, Oscar stopped when he got to the park’s entrance. Looking at the phone, he noticed that he didn’t have a signal and his call had failed.

“Damn it, why don’t I have a signal? I have to make arrangements to get away from here,” Oscar spoke as he looked around again. “If that fucker found me, I’m sure others out there, that want the bounty that’s on me head, can find me too.”

Oscar moved around a bit, trying to get his phone to connect to a cell signal. Sighing, Oscar walked out onto the street as a car barely missed hitting him as the sound of the horn blowing could be heard.

“You fucking loser!” Oscar yelled as the car’s tires screeched to a halt, the car stopping as a door opened and a person got out. “What the fuck!”

“You got a problem?” The person asked, slamming the car door, walking towards Oscar quickly.

“Oh shit,” Oscar said as he looked around and then took off running down the street, trying to avoid the person, not trying to bring more attention to himself.

Making it down the street, Oscar stopped at a local convenience store as he tried to get his breathing under control. Walking over to a phone booth, he frowned when he noticed that the cord had been cut. Shaking his head, he pulled his cell phone out of his pocket again and saw that he had some bars to make a call.

“Finally, I got bars,” Oscar said as he dialed a number on the phone and waited for someone to answer.

The Chaos Factor – Chapter 8

Chapter 8 — Chaos Goeth

Mar 15, 1996 – Jacksonville, FL – The X-Ternals’ Compound – The Infirmary

“What is the point of all of this?”  Tara asked, trying to catch her breath.

“You said you didn’t know any of these people, so I’m introducing you to them,” the other JT stated as his eyes started to glow again as Tara turned her head away.

“Please continue,” Tara stated, looking down.

“Moving along then.  I’m sure you remember the wimpy Carter Sellars,” the other JT stated, looking down as he sighed.  “For all the power he has to control the weather, he was never able to handle a fight as Cyclone.”

“He’s not a wimp, he just doesn’t believe in fighting like the rest of us do,” Tara stated as the other JT shook his head.

“If it wasn’t for his actions, the Prince never would’ve been injured by Master Power and had to wear that suit of armor that Paul Stanton now wears as Golem,” the other JT stated as he and Tara floated to the next person.  “Do you remember little Jordan Logan, if not, here he is, all grown up.  He’s not so little now.  He’s a full-grown man, he even has hair down there now.”

“Psi Lad,” Tara stated as a few tears fell from her eyes.

“No woman, don’t you shed tears for that little fuck up!”  The other JT snapped, his eyes flaring with energy as Tara screamed out.  “Everything happens for a reason… Doesn’t it?”

“He didn’t deserve to lose his family the way he did,” Tara stated as she sighed and then sniffled.  “Why are you doing this?”

“I’m doing this to show you why I’m here right now,” the other JT stated as the room shook as debris fell from the ceiling.  “Shall we continue now or do you want to whine some more?”

“I wasn’t whining,” Tara stated as the other JT looked at her as his eyes flared with energy, shocking her as she held her composure, not giving him the satisfaction of her screaming out.

“Now we come to Barbara Parks, the joke of the team,” the other JT stated as he shook his head.  “All she was ever good for doing was making mixed drinks with her powers.  She could’ve been so much more, but she was scared of her potential.  Glad I finally put her out of her damn misery.”

“What’s really the point to all of this Chaos?”  Tara asked as the other JT shook his head again.

“Don’t interrupt me!”  The other JT screamed as his eyes flared with energy as Tara screamed out this time.  “Moving along now, we get to Telly Scott.  He’s been going by the name Helix, but he doesn’t know what that really means.  He’s been the resident teleporter for the team for a very long time, but the Prince could’ve provided transport for you all, without the drama and the comedic antics that he created for so long.”

“You have a point there,” Tara stated as the other JT looked at her again.

“That guy has the biggest and rudest mouth of the south.  You know the guy thinks he knows everything, but he really doesn’t, but I do.  Sometimes I wonder why the Prince allowed him to remain around here for so long.  Then again, I wonder why the Prince remained here with you all for so long.”

“He remained here because he likes u and he likes helping people,” Tara stated, closing her eyes, fearing that she would be punished for speaking.

“Maybe you are right,” the other JT stated as the two of them floated over to where A’Mora was suspended.  “The Princess of Endor, A’Mora Asland… a real princess, a real princess, just like the prince and she’s here among the rest of you.  I think she could’ve used her magical powers differently, but instead of making herself happy, she chose to fight like the rest of you do, keeping the prince from experiencing his desires.”

“There are other things in this world besides experiencing desires Chaos,” Tara stated as the other JT shook his head again and then turned to face her, slapping her across the face.  “Did you enjoy hitting me Chaos?”

“Yes, I enjoyed that,” the other JT replied, smiling.  “You’re making Chaos very happy with your actions.”

“Much obliged, I’m sure,” Tara stated as the energy cage around JT and Necroloque’s bodies flickered a bit.  “Who’s this guy?”

“This is Benjamin Kane, his name is Lightspeed.  I thought you knew him,” the other JT stated, looking at Tara strangely as they floated past the man.  “This is his stripper girlfriend, Tamara Knight.  She’s a superhero by day and a stripper queen at night.  Instead of calling herself MidKnight, she should’ve just called herself Stripper Girl.  It seems all she’s good for is taking her clothes off.”

“I already know Tyler,” Tara stated as the other JT smiled and then shook his head.

“I don’t know what you saw in Stryker to even bother trying to sex him up.  He’s a confused young man,” the other JT spoke as he shook his head and then laughed.  “Ezra Tyler Sheridan hasn’t been able to make up his mind about what he wants since the day he set food in this place. One minute he likes girls and the next he likes guys.  I guess it depends on how big the dick is that he has to take up his ass.”

“Okay,” Tara said as a few tears fell from her eyes.

“And then we come to that bitch… I mean the witch named Celeste Preston, also known as Malaphyion.  I don’t even know why she came here.  Did she think her puny magicks could stand up to the might of Chaos?”  The other JT asked, moving towards her as he waved his hand at her face as her mouth reappeared as a few energy cages behind them flickered.  “Ah yes, the coveted Mara Drake or what’s her name again… That’s right, her name is Masquerade, like that bad seventies TV shoe.  Mara Drake has been a thorn in my side for a very long time.  Because of her actions, the Prince has been confused about his life, mainly because he believed that if he married her, she would produce the magical children that he met years ago, as if that would ever happen in this life…”

“And that guy there,” Tara stated, noticing that the more the other JT spoke, the more the energy cages behind them flickered.

“This is Kevin Page; he’s an Indian with the ability to heal what he touches.  The Prince met him at a gay activist place and the two became quick friends, but that changed when Kevin Edenfield got in his way.  It seems the Mystic Healer didn’t want anything to do with this team when Kevin Edenfield was around.  Come to find out, the Healer was in love with the Prince, but couldn’t handle his feelings,” the other JT stated as his eyes flared with energy as Tara screamed out.  “That was for you trying to distract me with meaningless thoughts of the past of you and that terrible freak back there.  So, we’re moving along.  We get to Henry Hart, the so-called prankster of the team.  Onyx really cracks me up, but he looked better as a cute little puppy dog.”

“He looked better as a cute little puppy dog?  I didn’t know Hank could change into animals,” Tara stated.

“He can’t, but I changed him into the cute little puppy dog myself,” the other JT stated with a smile.  “So, be careful about what you say to me, I could easily get offended and change you into a mink coat and leave you on a nightstand somewhere.”

“Noted,” Tara stated as the other JT turned around and then waved his hand as a few of the cages moved around.

“I know you remember Kayla Reyes, you were here when she was rescued from the accident that gave her the powers she has right now,” the other JT stated as Tara shook her head.

“What accident are you referring to?”  Tara asked.

“Come on Wonder Woman, I know you remember the fight between Talisman, the Prince and the rest of you that resulted in this young girl gaining her magical powers,” the other JT stated as more energy cages behind him flickered as the one around Necroloque disappeared completely.

“I—I think I remember it now,” Tara stated as the other JT floated over to the next person and then waved his hand as she moved next to him.

“This is Laura Lynn, she is known as Plastyque, but you know that already.  You already know how the Prince met her, since you and Laura hung out in the same places, growing up, both of you being the little common thieves you were on the street,” the other JT stated as Tara shook her head.  “Anyway, that bulky guy there is Mack Unger, he goes by Rock, but I think he’s more like Mud.  The Prince met him in a hospital a few years back, after he was attacked by some thugs at the Mall that you guys used to frequent a lot.  Like you, the Prince used his magic to grant a wish and the pathetic fool wished to be strong so no one would ever pick on him again and viola, that’s what you get in return.”

“I didn’t make a wish to become the way I am,” Tara stated as the other JT shook his head.

“No, you didn’t make a wish, but the Prince did use his magic to give you the powers that you have now, did he not?”  The other JT asked, waving his hand through the air as the area shook.  “Stop interrupting me damn it!”

“I’m sorry,” Tara stated as the other JT’s eyes flared with energy as she screamed out again.

“Now, where was i?  Oh yeah, this is Daniel McCulloch, he gained his powers from his Indian ancestors. On the day of his birth, his grandmother blessed him with the powers of the bear, hence the name Running Bear,” the other JT stated as he smiled and then moved over to where a woman was suspended as Tara gasped.  “Then we come to Amy Ramsey, Phantasma…”

“What happened to her?”  Tara asked.  “Is—is that her arm at her feet?”

“Why yes, that’s her robotic arm down at her feet,” the other JT replied, smiling as he shook his head.  “I told you to stop interrupting me!”

“I’m sorry,” Tara replied as the other JT’s eyes flared with energy once more as she screamed out again, her torture session lasting longer than the others.  “Please… Please stop!  I—I can’t take any more of this!”

“Now we come to the famous twins… who, in their right mind, would give their children the same damn first name?  I guess we would have to ask the mother of Andrew Brett and Andrew Bradley Claybourne to get that answer,” the other JT stated as Tara smiled weakly.

“He prefers to be called Andy and he prefers to be called Drew!”  JT screamed, stabbing the other JT in the back with his psychic sword as Necroloque floated down behind him.

“You!”  The other JT screamed, moving away from JT and Necroloque quickly as he turned around as the wound in his chest emanated psychic energy from his chest and back.  “How—how are you free right now?”

“Nope, we’re asking the questions now,” JT stated as he looked around.  “It seems you have everyone here, but where is Donna?  Why isn’t she here?”

“She’s not here because I couldn’t find her again,” the other JT replied as he looked up at JT.  “Is that because she went crazy and killed herself or…”

“What did you do to her?”  JT asked, floating closer to the other JT.

“I didn’t do anything to her at all,” the other JT replied.  “She did it to herself.”

“No, you had to do something to her!”  JT screamed, holding his psychic blade out in front of him.

“The only thing I did was remove the psychic blockers you had in her mind, restricting her powers from her use,” the other JT stated with a smile as the psychic energy continued to flare around his wound.

“Oh no, you didn’t!”  JT screamed, shaking his head.

“What’s that for JT?”  Tara asked as JT frowned.

“She—she couldn’t handle all the power she possessed,” JT stated as he shook his head.  “She—she probably went insane and…”

“And killed herself because she couldn’t handle all the voices in her head,” the other JT said with a smile on his face as he got back up on his feet.

“You monster!”  JT screamed, lunging towards the other JT again as he stabbed the psychic sword through his head.

“Oh God, no, the deathblow!”  Necroloque screamed as the other JT screamed out as energy and ribbon flared around JT’s body.

“What—what’s happening?  My—my transformation is coming undone!”  JT screamed out, as he, Tara and the other JT fell to the floor as all the energy cages above flickered and then disappeared.

“Tara, I think you need to do your thing,” Necroloque stated as Tara got up off the floor and then spun around in a circle as her body exploded in light, changing her into Amazon.

“Necroloque, what’s going on here?”  Tara asked, looking at JT and the other JT’s body that lay on the floor.

“I don’t know, but I think we’re about to get some answers,” Necroloque stated, moving over to JT’s body, kneeling down and caressing his face.  “Come on my boy, talk to me… What’s going on here?”

“It—it’s a demonphages,” JT spoke as the energy and ribbon hung off his body.  “It’s a demonphages that was created from my psychic essence that was left behind in Limbo that had mingled with the soul energies of Limbo also.  In a sense, it really was me, just not the flesh and blood me.  I—I did this Uncle, I did this.  I hurt so many people with my anger…”

“No my boy, you didn’t do this,” Necroloque stated as he shook his head, a few tears falling from his eyes.

“Donna, I can’t sense Donna anywhere on the planet,” JT stated as Necroloque’s eyes glowed.

“That’s because she’s not on this planet anymore my boy,” Necroloque stated as JT screamed out as psychic energy emanated around his body, taking on the form of a giant bird as it expanded so much that it enveloped all the people in the area, connecting their minds and souls to one another.

All it once, all the things JT felt was experienced by all the members of the X-Ternals that were in the room with him.  Screaming out, his tears fell as psychic energy set the building on fire.  Moving away from Necroloque, JT moved into a standing position and then reached behind his back, grabbing for air as his scepter appeared.

‘My boy, what are you doing?’  Necroloque telepathically spoke to JT, not getting a response.

“Necroloque, what’s going on?  What’s he doing?”  Tara asked as she and A’Mora moved over to where Necroloque stood, figuring out what was about to happen and then making a move to get to JT, not reaching him in time.

“I can’t allow this… Saturn!  Silent World!”  JT screamed as he threw the scepter into the air as it glowed brightly, the energy bathing everything around them all.

“No!”  Necroloque screamed, flying through the air as fast as he could, grabbing the scepter as he struggled to hold onto it as the energy expelled from it, blinding him, keeping him from seeing what was happening around him.

“JT, what have you done?”  A’Mora asked, reaching him first.

“All of this is my fault,” JT stated as he shook his head.  “None of this would have happened if I’d just stay away from you guys and never met any of you.”

“So, you think destroying the world is going to change that?”  A’Mora asked as JT nodded his head.  “You’re crazier than any of us ever thought!”

“Maybe so, but when I’m done, none of you will know me, never have met me,” JT stated as Necroloque landed down on the floor a few feet away from him.

“My boy, you have released energies that must be stopped,” Necroloque stated as JT shook his head.

“Let the world be rewritten without me in it,” JT stated as Tara and A’Mora looked at him strangely.

“You are crazy!”  Tara screamed.  “I didn’t let you turn me into Wonder Woman, so you could just off yourself!”

“You turned into Wonder Woman so you could help people that couldn’t help themselves,” JT stated as he shook his head.  “I can’t be helped anymore.”

“Destroying this world isn’t the answer damn it!”  Tara screamed, grabbing JT by the collar of his shirt and shaking him like a ragdoll.  “Stop your damn scepter before it kills us all!”

“I won’t,” JT stated as everything froze around him and Tara.

“What the hell is going on?”  Tara asked, noticing that things around them had stopped moving.  “We’re still moving, but everything else has stopped.”

“I take it this is one of the Elders’ doing,” JT stated as he got up off the floor as he turned around.  “They don’t want this place destroyed; they are doing what they need to—to keep this place protected.”

“They have a right to do what’s needed to keep this place protected JT,” Tara stated as she looked around as Necroloque appeared next to them as he handed JT his scepter.

“My boy, this belongs to you, but I suggest you undo what you’ve already done,” Necroloque stated as JT shook his head and then accepted his scepter as it glowed brightly.

“I’m not going to undo what I’ve done,” JT stated as he shook his head as the ground rumbled underneath them.  “Because of my actions, a demonphages took on my appearance and tried to kill all my friends and succeeded in driving one to kill herself!  That’s unforgiveable damn it!”

“But you aren’t responsible for this my boy,” Necroloque stated as JT shook his head.  “You are not responsible for the creation of that demonphages.”

“I might as well be,” JT stated as he shook his head again.  “It was my powers, it came from my domain… It was my anger… My anger caused all of this madness!”

“No my boy, you did not cause this,” Necroloque stated as JT shook his head.  “Your anger was created by another factor, a chaos factor that had nothing to do with you.”

“A factor that created a thing that called himself Chaos, used my powers against all of my friends and only the heavens know what he did to…” JT trailed off as psychic images were displayed in the area around him as the other JT’s body dissipated into nothingness.

“Let’s just say he did a good job torturing most of us,” Tara stated as she looked down.  “That thing enjoyed zapping me… I can’t say what he did to the others… Besides, it told me that it turned Hank into a dog.”

“Yes, we know about that,” JT stated, shaking his head.

“Well then, I still can’t tell you more than what he told me, except giving me a brief history on how you met most of the team and how he felt about certain members,” Tara stated as JT’s eyes glowed an eerie purple color as Tara’s glowed the same color, indicating that JT used his powers to link with her mind.

“I remained around here for so long because there are times I feel I have no place else to go, that I don’t have a home elsewhere, but here,” JT stated as he looked at Tara.  “Most of you are my friends and after tonight… I don’t know how long that will last.”

“JT, they are your friends… Because of what happened tonight, that’s not going to change,” Tara stated as people started moving around in the area behind them.

“How do you know that for sure Tara?”  JT asked.  “When I got here, they were all blaming me for what happened… What makes you think they’ll believe me when I tell them that a demonphages was behind all of this?”

“Because we all saw things with our own eyes,” A’Mora stated, walking over to where JT and Tara were.  “We all saw and heard the things that went on.  When you connected with us telepathically, we all felt what you felt… We all saw what you saw… When you stabbed your psychic sword through its head, we saw what truly happened.”

“And I still don’t know what to think about what happened to Donna,” JT stated as he looked down as a few tears fell from his eyes.

“You didn’t do it JT,” A’Mora stated, rubbing his shoulders.  “You have to keep in mind that you didn’t do it, but the demonphages did.”

“I know that, but it had my face, my powers,” JT stated as he shook his head.  “When you guys think about all the things it did, you would see my face, not someone…”

“As I said JT, we all know the truth here,” A’Mora stated, leaning in and giving JT a hug as JT looked over her shoulder to see Drew and Andy moving towards them.

“There’s the truth and then there’s the things that happened with all of you,” JT stated as he looked over at Drew and then turned around and looked at Kevin.  “I don’t know what I can do to…”

“There’s nothing anyone can do,” Necroloque stated as he stepped up to JT and looked at him.  “You’re the only one that needs to do something right now.  You need to take back that energy that you released into the universe, before things unfreeze and the world ends.”

“I—I don’t know if I can,” JT stated as he looked down.

“Think about all of us,” Hank stated as he walked up next to JT.  “Thank about all the things none of us would get to do, if the world is destroyed!”

“Think about the lives we would never have with the ones we love,” Andy said as he stepped up next to A’Mora, taking her hand as he looked over at JT and then at Drew.

“Think about our future,” Drew said as he took JT’s hand.  “Think about what we mean to each other.”

“Think about how good life can be, with you here, living it with your friends my boy,” Necroloque stated as he patted JT on the back.

“Okay,” JT stated as he held his scepter up in the air as his eyes glowed brightly.  “Saturn!  Soul, Eternal, Change-Up!  Wise ones of the universe, give me the wisdom, the strength, and the power I need to undo what I have done!”

THE END… For Now At Least

The Chaos Factor – Chapter 6

Chapter 6 — Time, The Clock of the Heart

 Mar 15, 1996 – Jacksonville, FL – X-Ternals’ Compound – The Command Room

“This is all just pudding in the fucking dish,” Hank said, shaking his head as he walked into the room and sat down at the table.  “Why in the hell is this shit happening?  What could’ve happened to…”

“Are you seriously asking that?”  Barbara asked, looking across the table at Hank as she rubbed at her head.  “This all has something to do with the things that happened with Marek.”

“Marek’s gone and he’s no longer within range to control anyone around, JT said so.  From what JT said, Marek won’t be bothering anyone again for a very long time,” Wanda stated as she sat down across from Barbara.

“Yeah right,” Hank said as Wanda glared at him.

“Marek’s telepathic hold on everyone ceased when he was banished by JT’s uncle,” Wanda stated.

“And you always believed what he said.  You’re such a fool Wanda,” Hank stated as Wanda stood up from the table as Hank moved backwards to avoid her grabbing claw.  “Stay back Wanda, I’m not scared of you!”

“You two need to cut that shit out!”  Barbara yelled, shaking her head.  “I was almost killed today!  We have a big problem to deal with and we don’t have time for this petty squabbling and bull…”

(<ZAMF>)

“Please excuse the intrusion friends of the Prince of Limbo,” Necroloque spoke as he appeared in the room.

“What the hell!”  Telly screamed, jumping up from his seat, taking on a fighting stance.

“Stand down Helix, this is Necroloque, JT’s uncle,” Wanda stated as she stood and then bowed her head as Necroloque shook his head as the others around the table just looked at her strangely.

“That’s not needed,” Necroloque spoke as A’Mora stood up and then walked around the table.

“Are you here to help your nephew kick our asses”  A’Mora asked, standing next to Necroloque.

“Young woman…” Necroloque spoke as A’Mora shook her head and then glared at him.

“First, he goes after his mother to kill her and now he’s come after all of us, trying to kill us too!  What’s going on here man?”  A’Mora asked.

“Hold your tongue girl,” Wanda stated, popping A’Mora in the back of her head as A’Mora turned around quickly, zapping her with a magical energy bolt, knocking her backwards to the floor.  “You need to learn respect for…”

“Ms. Langley, that’s not…” Necroloque said as Telly stepped closer to him, looking him up and down as he walked around him.  “Is there something wrong with you boy?”

“So, you’re JT’s uncle,” Telly stated, looking at Necroloque strangely.

“Yes, I’m his uncle,” Necroloque responded as Telly shook his head.

“Why are you dressed like that?  Are you some kind of whacko too?”  Telly asked as Wanda and A’Mora both shook their heads.

“That will be enough out of you,” Necroloque spoke, waving his hand in Telly’s direction as a portal opened under Telly’s feet and he fell through it, screaming.  “We don’t have time for this madness.”

“What madness don’t we have time for?  Why are you here?”  A’Mora asked, looking at Necroloque again.

“There’s something wrong here, but it’s not what you all think,” Necroloque stated, waving his hand as a crystal orb appeared in his hand.

“What is it that we think here?”  Barbara asked, looking over at Necroloque.

“My boy isn’t behind who has attacked you,” Necroloque stated as A’Mora and Wanda looked at him strangely.  “The person or thing that attacked you is not my nephew.”

“If that’s not JT, who in the hell is it?”  Hank asked, walking closer to Necroloque as a portal opened in the room as Telly appeared with an angry look on his face.

“I trust you will keep your mouth closed from here on out, until someone asks for your words,” Necroloque stated as Telly’s eyes widened and then he stepped backwards away from the man.  “Back to what I was saying… The person or thing that has attacked all of you isn’t my nephew.”

“If it’s not JT, then who is it?”  Hank asked, looking at Necroloque again.  “The person looks like him, they talk like him and they have the same powers as him!”

“But it’s not my nephew that’s attacked you,” Necroloque stated as he waved his hand over the crystal orb as it glowed, projecting images to all of them where JT was.  “JT isn’t the one that’s behind this, I put him some place where he won’t bother anyone, until I’ve figured out how to solve some problems among our numbers.”

“Where is that place?”  Hank asked.

“I—I put him in a hospital and…” Necroloque stated as A’Mora shook her head.

“You know, you people are really fucked up!”  A’Mora screamed as Necroloque looked over at her strangely as her hair changed color.  “First his mother slash aunts tried to have him cured of being gay and now you’ve gone and put him in a damn hospital!  What in the hell is he in a hospital for?  He’s not sick!”

“I—I put him there to try to help him deal with the current situation,” Necroloque stated as he looked down.

“And what situation is that man?”  A’Mora asked as she looked over at Necroloque with an angry look on her face.

“You were there with him.  You helped Venus, Earth and Pluto save him.  You saw how angry he was when you all got to him. You saw what that anger did to him and almost did to this planet,” Necroloque stated as a tear rolled down his cheek.  “My boy almost destroyed this planet because of his anger, hurt and pain.”

“Yeah, I saw that, but nothing more than that because I mysteriously appeared back here,” A’Mora stated, crossing her arms across her chest as she tapped her foot on the floor.  “No one said ‘thank you’ or anything, I was just whisked away, like some damn unwanted trash on the street, blowing in the damn wind!”

“That’s not how…” Necroloque stated as A’Mora shook her head.

“So, why did you stop him from doing what he was going to do?  Why in the hell did you release him on the rest of us?”  A’Mora asked.

“I didn’t release him on anyone,” Necroloque stated, shaking his head as he held up the orb again.  “When I sent you away, I sent him to Limbo to try to calm him down, but I wasn’t successful in that task.  The more I tried to calm him down, the angrier he got.  He fought me hard and wouldn’t stop.  So, I—I had no choice but to bind his powers and lock him in the place he’s in now.  I had no…”

“You people are just… Crazy!”  A’Mora snapped as Wanda shook her head.

“Young lady…”  Necroloque stated as A’Mora shook her head again.

“You did the same thing that his aunt did to him!”  A’Mora snapped as Hank watched both of them with a strange expression on his face.  “So, what you did to him, is that the end result?”

“No young lady, that’s not the end result,” Necroloque stated as his eyes glowed.  “I’m trying to tell you all that JT’s here in this hospital; he’s not the one that attacked you.”

“If it’s not JT, then who in the hell is it that kicked our asses earlier?”  Hank asked, moving closer to Necroloque.

“I don’t know, but that’s why I’m here to help all of you,” Necroloque stated as Barbara looked down.

“So, if JT’s in a hospital, what’s going to happen to him when he gets out of the hospital?”  A’Mora asked, looking down.  “Is he going to start the whole, I’m going to destroy those that hurt me and go after you too?”

“Hopefully, that won’t be the case,” Necroloque stated as A’Mora shook her head again.

“You people are just heartless,” A’Mora stated as she turned and walked towards the door.  “I want no part of this madness.”

“A’Mora… Wait!”  Hank yelled, running out of the room behind her.

“It seems I’ve upset the Princess of Endor,” Necroloque stated as Barbara, Telly, Andy and Wanda looked at him strangely.

“She—she’s a real princess?”  Andy asked, looking up at Necroloque as he sniffled as some tears rolled down his cheek.

“Yes, she’s a real princess,” Necroloque replied as there was a loud crash outside of the room as Andy took off running.

A Moment Earlier – Down the Corridor

“Oh no, he—it’s here,” A’Mora stated, covering her mouth as she backed away as JT came into view with an evil smirk on his face.

“Oh come now Illusioness, what’s wrong?”  JT asked, floating closer to A’Mora, descending down to the floor in front of her.  “I’m no illusion baby, this is the real thing.”

“Stay back!”  A’Mora screamed, holding her hand out in front of her, using her powers to create a magical shield as a staff appeared in her other hand.

“Oh, like that puny little thing can stop me,” JT said as he waved his hand at the magical shield and then walked through it.  “Your magicks can’t stand against mine.  You are a pathetic ant compared to me, you small and insignificant woman!”

“Keep away from her!”  Hank screamed, flying towards JT as JT waved his hand, using his powers to slam Hank into the corridor wall, putting a big dent there.

“It seems some people never learn their place,” JT said, smirking as he looked in Hank’s direction.  “I guess he’s really a dumb puppy dog… I might as well turn him into one.”

“What… No!”  A’Mora screamed as JT’s eyes crackled with energy as Hank’s body glowed brightly as Hank’s body transformed into a small hound dog.  “No!”

“Oh yes, isn’t he cute?”  JT said, laughing maniacally as he moved towards A’Mora.  “Now what should I do with you?”

“Sorry, but I’m not about to let you do anything to her!”  Andy yelled as JT grabbed A’Mora by her hair, yanking her backwards and slamming her into the floor.

“Like you can actually stop me Speedy,” JT said as Andy stopped in place, moved and then turned around.

“Sorry, wrong person,” Andy said as he looked at JT and then took off running down the corridor as he stopped in mid trip, turned around and then ran towards JT as JT held out his hand, stopping him quickly.  “Ugggghhhhh!”

“Oh no, I have the right person,” JT said with an evil smile on his face as he floated to where Andy lay on the floor and then grabbed him by his throat as he floated into the air.

“Let… Me… Go…”  Andy managed to speak as JT shook his head and then tossed him down to the floor, using his powers to slam Andy down hard, repeating the process multiple times.

“Stop this!”  Necroloque yelled as he and the others arrived in the corridor.

“Well hello there Lord,” JT said as Barbara looked at him and then looked around.

“Oh God, he took out Hank, A’Mora and Andy,” Barbara stated as JT smiled and then waved his hand as he disappeared from the area.  “Where in the hell did he go to now?”

“It’s not gone, it’s still here,” Necroloque stated as his eyes glowed.

“You mean, he’s still here,” Barbara stated as Telly, Paul, Laura, Tyler, Wanda and Celeste joined them in the corridor.  “How are we going to stop this man, if his own uncle can’t stop him?”

“See, this is why we should be taking care of our own and not relying on outside help,” Telly stated as Necroloque looked at him again and then shook his head as Telly stepped backwards.

“What are we supposed to be doing here Telly, since you know it all… Come on, tell us what we’re supposed to be doing here,” Barbara stated as she looked over at Telly.  “How are we going to stop JT with just us?  He’s already taken out most of the active team.”

“It just means we need to call others in to help us out,” Telly stated, looking around.  “I’m sure we can…”

“Do you really think any one of us can stand against him?”  Barbara asked, looking down.  “We need to just give up before he takes the rest of us out.”

“Well, with that kind of damn attitude, we have no choice but to be taken out.  He’s already done something to Donna.  Nobody can find her and I haven’t heard from Michura or Kalya,” Telly stated as Hank barked and then wagged his tail.  “And what in the hell are we going to do about this damn dog?”

“Ah… Did Hank turn into a dog on his own, using his own powers or what?”  Barbara asked, looking around.

“If Hank changed himself into a dog, I’m sure he could change himself back, but I believe this to be JT’s doing,” Celeste stated as Hank barked again and then walked over to her, sitting at her feet as he looked up at her as he barked again.

“This is just freaky,” Telly said as Necroloque knelt down in front of Hank, waved his hand in front of Hank’s face and then stepped back up as Hank’s body glowed brightly as his body started to transform.

“You will be a dog no more,” Necroloque stated as Hank’s body stopped transforming and he changed back into his human form, revealing his true image.

“Hank, is that you?”  Barbara asked as Necroloque turned away from them and then waved his hands over A’Mora and then Andy’s body as both people opened their eyes, looking around quickly.

“Oh man, what happened to me?”  Andy asked, sitting up on the floor as he rubbed at his head and then got up.

“It seems you were a victim of the new and improved JT,” Telly replied, looking over at Andy and then helping him away from Necroloque.

“There’s something wrong,” A’Mora stated, looking around as she shook her head.

“What do you mean there’s something wrong?  That’s really an understatement around here with all that’s going on girl,” Barbara stated with a frown on her face.

“No, there’s really something wrong… There’s something wrong with JT,” A’Mora stated, looking over at Necroloque.  “He—he’s really enjoying using his powers the way he is.  It… It’s like he’s being turned on by it all.”

“Are you trying to say our boy is jerking off to hurting us?”  Telly asked as A’Mora and Barbara both shook their heads.

“Sometimes, I wonder if he thinks before he speaks,” Tyler stated as he shook his head.

“This guy has no kind of tact at all,” Wanda stated as she waved her hand in Telly’s direction, using her powers to place an eldritch band around his mouth, stopping him from talking as he struggled to remove the band with his hand from his mouth.  “Sorry, I’m not letting that off until you learn to still your tongue.”

“Thank you, I couldn’t have done it better myself,” Necroloque stated, grabbing his head as he dropped to his knees.

“Are you okay sir?”  Wanda asked, rushing to Necroloque’s side.

“There’s something else wrong,” Necroloque spoke as Celeste stepped over to the two of them.

“No, that’s really an understatement,” Celeste stated as there was a strange phenomenon in the room as JT appeared and then another JT appeared.

“Hello again Lord,” JT said with a smile.

“What in the hell… There’s two of them!”  Hank screamed.

“Uncle, is that you?”  The second JT asked, rushing over to where Necroloque was on the floor and then knelt down to him.

“How did you get here my boy?”  Necroloque asked.

“I—I was at the hospital in bed and he—he appeared in the room.  He grabbed me and said there was something I needed to see.  He—he said that we had some place else to be, that I didn’t belong in the hospital and that once I came with him, I would know what I should do,” the second JT stated.  “He said that there was a spell on me and that someone here tried to kill me.  Is that true Uncle?”

“Go ahead, tell him!”  A’Mora screamed, standing over Necroloque as Celeste’s eyes glowed.

“They’re not supposed to exist at the same time, in the same place,” Celeste stated as she pointed at both JTs.  “They’re both drawing energy from the same power source.”

“A power source that is Limbo,” Necroloque stated as his eyes glowed.  “One of them is not the real Prince and the other is just a performer on a stage, set up by I don’t know who.”

“How could something like this happen?”  The second JT asked as the first JT raised his hands, using his powers to create a cosmic flash bomb, throwing everyone in the area through the wall and outside to the ground.

“Who cares how it happened, it did and now you’re all dead!”  The first JT said, laughing as he disappeared as the others lay on the ground.

A Day Later – New York City, NY – The Park (Gay Bar)

“So, what’re we doing here babe?”  Drew Claybourne asked as he and JT walked into the building.

“We’re here because you said you wanted to have some fun with me, so here we are,” JT stated as the two of them walked over to the bar.

“But baby… We—we’re not old enough to be here,” Drew stated as he looked at JT.

“Don’t worry about that babe, I’ve got that covered too,” JT stated, smiling evilly.

“No baby, don’t use your powers that way,” Drew stated as JT’s eyes sparkled with energy as the bartender turned around and then looked at the two of them.

“What can I get for you two hot boys?”  The bartender asked, looking at JT with a smile on his face.

“I would like a Vodka and cranberry on the rocks,” JT requested as Drew looked at him strangely.  “How about you Drew?”

“I—I’ll just have a cola,” Drew stated, looking down.

“Come on handsome, is that really all you’re going to have?”  JT asked, smiling at Drew.

“Yeah,” Drew replied as the bartender smiled and then started preparing their drinks.

“Come on Drew, you have to let your hair down some time,” JT stated, pulling Drew close and then kissing his mouth.

“Baby no, we shouldn’t be doing that in here, like this… Someone would see,” Drew said as he looked around quickly.

“Good, let them all see, it’s a gar bar silly,” JT stated as Drew looked at him strangely again.  “This is where people like us, go to have a really good time.”

“How did you find this place baby?”  Drew asked, looking around as he stopped, noticing two guys in the corner kissing as he tapped JT on the shoulder.  “Oh God baby, it’s two guys kissing.  We’re in trouble here baby.  Someone’s going to catch us and try to lock us up.”

“We’re not in trouble babe.  No one is going to do anything to us,” JT stated, leaning in and kissing Drew’s lips as the bartender placed their drinks in front of them.

“Oh God, he saw us,” Drew said as he pulled back from JT in a hurry and then looked down.

“That’ll be seven fifty,” the bartender stated as JT smiled and then took a plain piece of paper from his pocket, tapped it with his finger as the paper changed into a twenty-dollar bill.

“Thanks man, you can keep the change,” JT stated, handing the paper to the man as the man smiled and then walked away.

“That wasn’t real money baby,” Drew said, looking at JT closely.  “What’s going on here?  You—you’re never this careless with the use of your powers.  What has gotten into you?”

“Nothing has gotten into me at all Drew.  I just want us to have a good time babe, don’t you?” JT asked, looking at Drew closely as his eyes sparkled with energy.

“Of course I do baby, but not at the expense of you using your powers the way you are,” Drew stated, looking JT in the face.  “I love you baby, but I don’t want your soul…”

“You shouldn’t be worried about my soul Drew, you should be worried about your own,” JT stated, smiling evilly again as he snapped his fingers as Drew disappeared.

“Hey!”  The bartender yelled, rushing over to the bar where JT stood.  “What just happened to your buddy?  How did he leave like that?  Are you two freaky, like those people they talk about on the TV?”

“I suggest you watch your mouth guy,” JT said as he smiled again.  “That’s the perfect idea.”

“What,” the guy said as JT’s eyes glowed as the man’s mouth disappeared from his face.

“That’s so much better… There’s peace and quiet, the way it should be,” JT said as he laughed and then turned around.  “Okay, who’s next?”

Jacksonville, FL – X-Ternals’ Compound – The Infirmary

“I would very much like to know what’s going on here,” A’Mora stated, looking at Necroloque and JT.  “It seems you two are the only ones that can answer the questions of what’s really going on around here.”

“I don’t have an answer for this,” Necroloque replied, looking over at JT’s unconscious body.

“Well maybe JT has an answer in his head,” Hank stated, looking over at Necroloque.

“I guess I could take a peek at what’s in his head.  Maybe there’s something I’ve missed,” Necroloque stated as his eyes glowed brightly.

“Does this have anything to do with Marek’s actions?”  Hank asked.

“I don’t think so, but that could be the case,” Necroloque stated with a frown as he touched JT’s forehead.  “With all that’s happened, maybe he left a hypnotic suggestion in JT’s mind.”

“Damn, I thought all of our problems were over when Marek was captured.  This new shit just adds new flare to everything,” Hank stated as he walked behind the examination table that JT laid on.

“No, it just means that I need to reverse what I did and unbind JT’s powers and put things back right,” Necroloque stated as A’Mora shook her head.  “If I do that, maybe things could go back to the way they were and one of this stuff would’ve happened.”

“Yeah right,” Hank stated as Necroloque looked at him.

“Hank, you get upset way too easily,” Necroloque stated as Hank shook his head.

“Yeah, you two are related,” Hank stated, shaking his head again.

“Very intuitive of you,” Necroloque stated as Hank rolled his eyes.

“Well excuse me o’ powerful one, but some of us are not as powerful and god-like, like you and your nephew there,” Hank stated as Necroloque looked over at him as his eyes stopped glowing.  “If there’s an inkling of Marek in his mind, I wasn’t able sense it.”

“You’re psychic too?  I didn’t know you were psychic Hank,” A’Mora stated as Hank turned and looked at her strangely.

“I’m not as strong as JT or Donna, but I have psychic potential,” Hank stated as he looked over at A’Mora.  “He—he helped me develop my limited psychic abilities, but I tend to not rely on it, mainly because it’s so limited.”

“Non-sense Hank,” Necroloque stated, looking over at Hank.  “You could’ve been a strong psychic, but it seems you’re scared to use…”

“Get out of my head man,” Hank stated, pointing his finger at Necroloque.  “You’re acting like JT and Wanda.  I’m glad she’s not a real psychic… she’s only capable of projecting her voice into the minds of others, using her magic, whereas he can do that and read our minds.”

“Wow, go ahead and give a complete history of all the X-Ternals’ powers and weaknesses Hank,” JT spoke as Hank turned and looked at him.  “Yeah, I’m awake and no, Marek is not in my body.”

“Get out of my head man!”  Hank snapped as JT shook his head and then rolled his eyes.

“Mainly, a head that most wouldn’t want to be in anyway,” JT stated, looking over at Hank.

“Jerk,” Hank said, rolling his eyes again as he turned his back to JT and Necroloque.  “So, if there isn’t a sign of Marek in him, then what’s causing all this crap that’s happening?  Why did he…”

“I’m not responsible for what happened to you guys,” JT stated, looking down.

“If you’re not, who is?”  Hank asked as JT’s body crackled with energy as Necroloque stepped back.

“Oh no,” Necroloque said, covering his eyes as JT’s clothing started to change as ribbon and energy flared about his body as the light faded.  “Demonloque!”

“In the flesh,” JT spoke in a cold tone as Necroloque shook his head.

“It seems when you went searching for Marek in his mind, you found something else instead!”  Hank screamed, stepping backwards as he bumped into the wall and then slid down it as he tried to make his exit from the room.

“What in the hell is going on around here?  Why is Demonloque here again?”  Barbara asked as she and Wanda walked into the room, taking on fighting stances.

“No time for talking, we might need to take the defensive here and get moving.  It seems JT isn’t looking to play around and be nice,” A’Mora stated, her hair changing color as her costume reappeared.  “We need to get out of here, pronto!”
