When The Glitter Turns Gold – Chapter 10

Chapter 10 — What You Looking At?

Jun 10, 2004 – Jacksonville, FL (Baymeadows Suburb) – The Home of JT Poole – The Kitchen

“Hey buddy,” Justin said as he walked into the kitchen and over to the refrigerator.

“Hey Justin, did my Daddy leave?”  Caleb asked as Justin turned and looked at him.

“What do you mean buddy?”  Justin asked.

“My Daddy isn’t here with me; did he leave me?”  Caleb asked as he looked down at the table as Justin walked over and sat down next to him.

“No buddy, your daddy didn’t leave, he’s down in his study, talking with someone,” Justin replied as he looked at Caleb strangely.  “Why do you think your Daddy left you?”

“He said he was coming with me, but he didn’t come.  He went somewhere else,” Caleb stated as he sniffled.

“No need for the sniffles buddy,” Justin said with a frown.  “Your Dad didn’t go anywhere; he’s just talking to one of his friends about something, down in his study.  When he’s done talking, he’ll be right in here, okay buddy?”

“Okay Justin,” Caleb stated as Justin rubbed his back.

“So buddy, what do you want to eat?”  Justin asked.

“I already told Daddy what I wanted to eat,” Caleb replied as he looked down as Justin frowned.

“Well I didn’t hear that, so can you tell me what it is, that you want to eat?”  Justin asked as he turned Caleb’s face to see his.

“I told Daddy that I wanted to have tuna fish and crackers,” Caleb replied as Justin hopped up from his seat and walked back over to the refrigerator.

“Cool buddy, he made some tuna fish earlier this morning,” Justin stated as he opened the refrigerator.

“I know, he told me already,” Caleb replied as he looked over at Justin.

“Are you ready to eat right now?”  Justin asked as Caleb nodded his head.  “Cool, let me get us some plates down and…”

“Don’t forget to get a plate for Daddy,” Caleb stated as Justin turned and looked at him.

“I won’t buddy,” Justin stated as he opened the cupboard door, getting the items he needed.  “What do you want to drink?”

“I don’t know,” Caleb replied as Justin shook his head, opened the refrigerator door again and then grabbed the bottle of milk out.

“Do you want milk, soda or water?”  Justin asked.

“Soda,” Caleb replied as Justin looked around quickly and then smiled as he grabbed a canned soda and put the milk back.  “I don’t want that kind, I want another kind.”

“Okay,” Justin responded as he opened the refrigerator again, grabbed a different can of soda and showing it to Caleb first, before closing the door back.  “Do you want this one buddy?”

“Yeah,” Caleb replied with a smile as Justin closed the door and then walked over to the table with the soda, plates, cups and some silverware.

“I think I have everything we’ll need for our meal,” Justin said as he sat down at the table and then opened the container that had the tuna in it.

Heather’s POV

What in the hell is going on around me?  I’ve been sitting in this damn room for two hours now and I don’t know what to actually expect.  After the guard came to get me from my cell, I thought I was on my way back to court, but I ended up back here.  Why in the hell am I back here?  Each time someone comes in here, I ask what’s going on, but no one has yet to give me an answer.  It’s like they’re stalling or something.  What in the hell is happening around me?

“Heather Stewart,” I heard someone say as I looked up to see a tall white man that stood in the damn doorway.  “That’s you, I’ve found you.”

“You’ve found me?  I’m not fucking lost,” I said as the man frowned and then shook his head.

“Ms. Stewart, there was no need for that kind of language,” the man said as he walked over to where I sat.  “My name is David Connor; I’m a lead resident around here.”

“A lead resident of what?”  I asked as he smiled and then grabbed a chair as he sat down.

“I’m one of the counselors,” he stated as I shook my head.

“I’m not in need of counseling!”  I snapped as he slid the chair back a bit.  “Why in the hell am I here?  I don’t need to be here, I need to be getting the hell out of here, so I can be with my son.”

“Yes your son, that’s a good starting point.  Why don’t you tell me about him,” he said, looking at me strangely, almost creeping me out the way he looked.  Is he human?

“What do you mean, tell you about him?  My son is none of your concern,” I said as he raised an eye at me.

“Ms. Stewart, your son is one of the reasons why you’re here right now,” he said as he looked at me closely.

“What in the hell are you talking about?”  I asked as the man frowned again and then shook his head.  “Why in the hell am I here?  Why am I going through this shit?”

“You’re here because the judge that’s presiding over your court trial ordered a seven-thirty exam.  Your trial won’t continue until my colleagues and I finish our evaluation of you,” he stated as I shook my head.  “You are going through this because of your actions against the victim… A… Ah… Ah yeah, the victim, JT Poole.”

“He’s not a victim, I am,” I said as he raised an eye at me.

“No Ms. Stewart, because of your actions…” he stated as I shook my head and then held up my hand, stopping him.

“I didn’t do anything to him that he didn’t want,” I said as the man shook his head.

“You sexually assaulted him Ms. Stewart,” he said as he shook his head and then picked up a folder as he flipped a few pages in it.  “You sexually assaulted a gay man while he was unconscious.”

“I didn’t assault him,” I said as I shook my head.  “He was in bed, asleep and we—we had sex.”

“He was asleep,” he said, looking at me strangely.

“Yes, he was asleep,” I spoke as he shook his head and then stood up.

“Ms. Stewart, it seems you’re not fully grasping what’s going on here.  What in the hell is wrong with you?”  He asked, looking at me as if he was disgusted with me.  “You drugged Mr. Poole and while he was in an unconscious state, you took advantage of him, thereby conceiving a child with him.”

“You make it sound like…” I said as he interrupted me.

“The truth,” he said, turning his back to me.  “You have a son with a gay man—a gay man that will never love you.  Why did you do it?”

“I didn’t do anything,” I said as he shook his head again.

“You did something,” he replied as he looked down.  “You ruined a man’s life and you ruined the life of an innocent child.  You ruined your child’s life!”

“What!  How in the hell did I ruin JT’s life?  How did I ruin my child’s life?”  I asked.

“Think about things Ms. Stewart,” he said as he looked at me.  “Did you ever stop to think about the consequences your actions would have on your child?”

“What consequences?”  I asked as he shook his head again.

“Did you ever stop to think that maybe that man didn’t want to have a child with you?  Did you think about how that man would react to the child that you had, because of your tawdry actions with him, while he was unconscious?”  He asked.  “From some of the things that the witnesses said in their statements to the court, this man wanted nothing to do with you and now there’s a child between the two of you.”

“He—he loves me and I love him,” I said as the man just looked at me and then shook his head again.  “Why is all of this happening to me?”

“Are you kidding me here Ms. Stewart?  Is this some kind of game on your part?”  He asked, grabbing the folder as he walked out of the room in a huff.

“Damn it!  I’ve been around this place for far too long,” I said aloud as the guard walked into the room with the man.

“Officer, she’s not responding to what she’s done,” the man said as he looked at the guard.  “I’m going to go ahead and submit my report to the court.  It seems she’s not handling reality well at all.  In her mind, she’s in love with this man and that she’s done nothing wrong.”

“What do you suggest Dr. Connor?”  The guard asked as he looked at me and then back at the man.

“I suggest that she be institutionalized until she can understand the wrong that she’s done.  Maybe then she can answer for the crimes she’s committed,” the man said as he looked at the guard and then shook his head.  “Right now, she’s not capable of answering to her crimes, if she’s not able to see the wrong that she’s done.”

“I think she’s putting us all on,” the guard stated as he glared at me.

“I don’t think so.  I’ve listened to the recordings from the other sessions and it seems like she’s delusional,” the man said as he shook his head.  “I’m going to include my findings in my report to the court and hopefully the judge will see things the way I do and go ahead and sentence her to a mental institution, so she can get some much-needed help.”

“I don’t need any damn help, I’m just fine,” I said as the guard and the man looked at me and then stepped out of the room.

I—I can’t believe what I just heard.  This man is going to suggest to the court… To the damn judge that I be put in a mental hospital somewhere.  There’s nothing wrong with me, I’m fine!  They are the ones that have a problem!  I didn’t do anything wrong!

Why in the hell is this shit happening to me?  From what that damn woman told me yesterday, everyone at the damn hospital is responsible for me being here.  To add insult to injury, it seems Mom and Ken helped those fools out.  I can’t believe my own family betrayed me like that!  What am I going to do to get out of this mess?  When I think of something, Ken and Mom are going to be cut out of my life, for good!

“Hey baby, what’re you doing?”  Justin asked, walking into the room with a bag of chips in hand as JT looked up at him.

“I’m working on a song handsome,” JT replied as Justin raised an eye at him.  “I’m not about to sit around and allow Glitter to ruin my group’s reputation.  I worked too damn hard to get to where I am today and…”

“What have you written so far?”  Justin asked as he looked over JT’s shoulder.  “What’s the song about?”

“I’m writing something to get back at Glitter and that damn record company,” JT stated as he pointed at the stack of newspapers on the table.

“Baby, I don’t…” Justin said as JT held up his hand, stopping him from saying more.  “Baby…”

“The papers over there,” JT stated as he pointed at the stack of newspapers again.

“Okay,” Justin said as he walked over to the stack of papers and then picked up one, opening it as he read one of the headlines and the article connected to it.  “Oh shit.”

“Shit indeed,” JT said as he shook his head, while humming a tune as he wrote something else on the page.  “That heffa gave a damn interview, dissing me and Nikki!  She said that she never needed us and that she’s glad to be away from the substance abuser baby daddy and the no-show call girl!”

“She said what?!”  Justin snapped as JT pointed back to the stack of papers.

“She said that shit on TV and that shit is in the Music Star,” JT stated as he shook his head, humming another tune.  “She even told the world that we’re married and that I got some woman pregnant!”

“Oh man,” Justin responded as JT shook his head again.

“I think I got it,” JT said with a smile as he hummed again and then snapped his fingers.

“What you got baby?”  Justin asked.

“I got my new song handsome,” JT replied with a wide grin on his face.

“Baby, how are you going to release a new song, without the backing of a record company?”  Justin asked as he looked at JT strangely.

“Simple, I’m going to record it here in my studio and then I’ll send a few copies out to the radio stations around town,” JT stated with a sly smile on his face.  “You don’t always need the TV to get the song out to the world.  I have no problem doing things the old-fashioned way.”

“But do you think that’s a good idea baby?”  Justin asked as he looked at JT closely.

“With all the shit that Glitter has said and done, I really don’t care,” JT stated as he got up from his desk and then walked over to the recording booth.  “Do you want to hear it?”

“Yeah baby,” Justin replied as he walked over to the recording booth as JT smiled and then handed him the song book.

“I’m going to need your help to start off,” JT said with a small smile as he pointed at the top of the page.  “Will you help me out handsome?”

“Yeah baby, I’ll help you out,” Justin replied as JT smiled and then leaned in and kissed Justin’s mouth.

“Nice, you sing these parts that are highlighted here and I’ll do the rest,” JT stated as he pressed some buttons in the booth as some lights flashed behind him.

“Okay baby,” Justin said as he pulled JT back to him as the two of them kissed as JT picked up the headphones and handed them to him.  “You got music cued up already?”

“Yep, cued and ready to go,” JT replied as he placed a set of headphones on his own head as he pressed another button, starting the music.

It’s time for you to strike back, they’re lookin’ at you
They’re watching your every move
They’re watching you

Why you lookin’ at me?

Don’t get mad at me, ’cause I’m still gonna be
Tell me, tell me, tell me, whatchulookinat
Tell me, tell me, tell me, whatchulookinat

I feel your eyes on me, you’ve been tellin’ lies on me
Tell me, tell me, tell me, whatchulookinat
Tell me, tell me, tell me

See I don’t understand, why you keep peepin’ me?
When you don’t even like me
You’re after me and my man, don’t think you’re stressin’ me
‘Cause your lies don’t excite me, no no

Never thought, never thought, never thought
Never knew, never knew that you would do this to me
Try to ruin me, be my enemy

Never thought, never thought, never thought
That you, would act as if you’re cool with me
So why you lookin’ at me, why you lookin’ at me?

Don’t get mad at me, ’cause I’m still gonna be
Tell me, tell me, tell me, whatchulookinat
Tell me, tell me, tell me, whatchulookinat

I feel your eyes on me, you’ve been tellin’ lies on me
Tell me, tell me, tell me, whatchulookinat
Tell me, tell me, tell me, whatchulookinat

Oh, you know you’re wrong
Don’t wanna respect my song
But it’s okay ’cause either way
My following is real strong

You try so hard to show the whole world what I do
Now I’m turnin’ the cameras back on you
Same spotlight that once gave me fame
Tryin’ to dirty up JT’s name, no no

Never thought, never thought, never thought
Never knew, never knew that you would do this to me
Try to ruin me, be my enemy

Never thought, never thought, never thought
That you, would act as if you’re cool with me
Why you lookin’ at me, why you lookin’ at me?

Don’t get mad at me, ’cause I’m still gonna be
Tell me, tell me, tell me, whatchulookinat
Tell me, tell me, tell me, whatchulookinat

I feel your eyes on me, you’ve been tellin’ lies on me
Tell me, tell me, tell me, whatchulookinat
Why you lookin’ at me?

Don’t get mad at me, ’cause I’m still gonna be
Tell me, tell me, tell me, whatchulookinat
Tell me, tell me, tell me, come on, huh

Messing with my reputation
Ain’t even got no education
Tryin’ to mess with my concentration
Don’t even have a clue of what I’m facin’

All you know you need to stop it
Defamin’ my name for a profit
God is the reason my soul is free
And I don’t need you looking at me

Don’t get mad at me, ’cause I’m still gonna be
Tell me, tell me, tell me, whatchulookinat
Tell me, tell me, tell me, whatchulookinat

I feel your eyes on me, you’ve been tellin’ lies on me
Tell me, tell me, tell me, whatchulookinat
Tell me, tell me, tell me, whatchulookinat

Don’t get mad at me, ’cause I’m still gonna be
Tell me, tell me, tell me, whatchulookinat
Tell me, tell me, tell me, whatchulookinat

I feel your eyes on me, you’ve been tellin’ lies on me
Tell me, tell me, tell me, whatchulookinat
Tell me, tell me, tell me, whatchulookinat

Look atcha self

“That was awesome baby,” Justin said, looking over at JT, showing him the ‘thumbs up’ on a job well done.

“I’m glad you approve baby,” JT said as he and Justin kissed once more and then looked up to see that they had an audience outside of the recording booth.  Smiling, the two of them walked out of the booth, holding hands.  “Ah, hi guys, what’s up?”

“Nothing’s up buddy,” Wes replied with a smile.

“Daddy, you sound good,” Caleb stated with a smile.

“How do you know how I sound?”  JT asked, looking at Caleb strangely.

“Cause I heard you and Justin singing in the room with the big TV in it,” Caleb replied as JT looked at Justin and then smiled as he shook his head.

“I guess I left the auxiliary line on in the entertainment room,” JT stated as he walked over to Caleb.

“We heard it out back around the pool too,” Wes stated as he smiled at JT as Todd grabbed his hand quickly.  “I think the music from the recording booth was routed through all the speakers around the house.”

“As I said, I think I left the auxiliary line on,” JT stated as he shrugged his shoulders.

“Well none-the-less, you sound great,” Todd stated with a smile as he leaned in and kissed Wes’ cheek.

“I don’t know about you guys, but I’m hungry,” JT spoke as he walked around Todd and Wes with Caleb in his arms.

“Are you coming Justin?”  Wes asked as he and Todd left Justin standing in the room.

A Few Minutes Later – The Kitchen

JT’s POV

Good job back there JT, I knew you had it in you.  Now all I have to do is duplicate that master and get it out there to the radio stations quickly.  When I’m done, Glitter and the label won’t know what hit them.  I bet that song will go over just fine with the fans.

My next problem is, how am I going to deal with the label and what they allowed to happen.  If they think I’m going to just sit around and let that lil’ ho ruin my group, they have another thing coming.  With the interview Glitter gave on national TV no less, I’m sure I’ll be doing a similar interview real soon, telling the world just how bad of a person she really is.  I can’t believe she told the world about my son and Heather.  I’m just glad she didn’t go into complete details about that.  I don’t need all of my dirty laundry known to the world.

Hell, dealing with all the stuff that’s happened with Glitter in the last twenty-four hours, I haven’t stopped long enough to ask Howard about the stuff going on with Heather.  Apparently, that crap slipped my mind when he came out and all.  That really blew my mind.  Back to Heather though, I wonder how she’s putting up with jail right now.  The last thing Howard said about the matter was that she had freaked the hell out when she found out what she had been arrested for.  From what Howard told me, she couldn’t be put in jail for what she did to me, but I guess he was wrong about that, since that detective was able to arrest her.  How did he go wrong on that note?

“Baby, are you okay?”  I heard Justin ask as I looked around at him as he moved close and then wrapped his arms around my waist.  “I asked you a question.”

“You did?  What did you ask?”  I asked as he frowned and then leaned in close, our noses touching.

“Baby, are you okay?  Is there something wrong?”  He asked, his lips grazing across mine.

“I’m okay Justin,” I replied, nipping at his lips quickly as I moved my hands down to his ass, groping him.  “Honest, I’m okay babe.  I’m just thinking about some things is all.”

“Don’t make me send a search party in there for you,” he said as he kissed my lips and then patted my ass as he moved away from me.  “I asked if you wanted to prepare the chicken or am I going to do it?”

“How were you planning to do it?”  I asked.

“I would season it and then bake it in the oven,” he replied as Caleb ran into the kitchen and grabbed my leg.  “Or we could put it out on the grill and…”

“That sounds like a good idea.  We could have a cookout in the backyard,” I said as Caleb looked up at me.  “Does that sound good to you little man?”

“Yes Daddy,” Caleb replied as he looked at me with a sad look on his face.

“Caleb, is there something wrong?”  I asked, kneeling down to face him.  “Did something happen?”

“No Daddy,” he replied, averting his gaze from me.

“If nothing happened, why do you have the sad face going on?”  I asked, touching his face and turning it so he could look at me.  “Why are you looking sad right now?”

“I don’t want to go,” he replied as he sniffled.
